I think this would be a good centralized place to talk about the conference.

Today they announced a few schedule changes. Most notable (to me anyway) is BC will now be playing UMass home and home this weekend instead of PC. Coach Carvel and AD Ryan Bamford have been vocal about wanting to get an opponent this weekend to make up for UVM, so I get it from that perspective. But why did PC lose games because of it? PC hasn’t played yet and UMass has. Seems bizarre unless there is something I’m not clear on, like restrictions between MA and RI?

I admire your optimism, I really do.

It's been a long LONG time since the USCHO forums worked that way.

I think it's been over a decade since the overall majority of folks started to fragment into separate little program "bubbles", and shared threads started to fade away. We've definitely lost something in the process. I miss those days, I much prefer your approach, but I think that ship has sadly sailed. Sign of the times, I suppose. Good luck, I hope you can turn the tide.

Northeastern winter sports have been paused through Dec. 18 because of "small outbreaks" involving women's hockey and basketball, and men's track & field. No apparent positives involving men's hockey but this weekend's series with UML is off.

From the Maine link The Zlax45 posted: “This decision will most immediately impact students participating in the men's and women's basketball, and the men's and women's ice hockey programs. All games scheduled to be played between Nov. 25 and Dec. 8 have been canceled.” Emphasis mine.

Maybe I’m reading to much into this, but the fact they’re declaring games cancelled as opposed to postponed doesn’t give me much hope.

Rhode Island and Massachusetts travel has been shutdown with quarantine rules since August 7th

BTW, When are these "writers" going to get Metcalf on the phone for comment on all the issues right now going on in Hockey East?

There was supposed to be eight games this weekend and now there will only be two between BC and UMass-Amherst.

Back on the Northeastern situation: From what I've been told, the "outbreak" involved only players from several women's teams, including hockey. Men's basketball got ensnared through contact tracing. What's really frustrating is that NU is running a positivity rate of only .19 (note the decimal point) on ~435K tests, which is remarkable considering the size of the on-campus population. And it has to be doubly frustrating for men's hockey since nobody associated with the program is affected in any way.

If that's 0.19% of 435 tests, that's literally one (1) person.

If it's .19 of a max 1.00 rate (not percent) then that's roughly 100 people.

That's a huge difference ... can you clarify Split-N?

You missed the K (as in thousand) following the number. So .19 positivity (7-day moving average) on just under 435,000 tests.

Maybe my math is off, but a .19% positive rate of 435,000 tests is 826 positives. Are the dorms fully open at NU? Regardless though, 826 positives leads to a lot of contact tracing and a lot of chances for that number to keep growing.

From the NU Dashboard as of 11:15 AM:
Since 17 August 434,409 total tests, 339 positive tests (283 students, 31 faculty/staff, 25 contract employees). Last seven days reported (11/16-11/22), 33,948 tests, 65 positive tests.

The UMaine system doesn't seem to have a detailed dashboard, but as of yesterday gave 75 total cases on the Orono campus, 19 which are residence hall students, since the start of testing. However, they are testing far less than NU, with just under 38,000 total tests for the entire UMaine system since the start of testing and just 6,424 the past 14 days. Also of the 88 total UMS positive tests, 42 have been in the past 14 days.

The UNH system Daily COVID report for 11/25 shows just under 307,000 total tests since start of testing, 576 positive tests (388 students, 43 faculty, 105 staff, 40 other/contractors). For the past seven days reported (11/18-11/24) there were 14,730 tests, 58 positive tests of which 48 were on the Durham campus.

The BC COVID Dashboard shows 112,437 total tests since the start of testing, with 371positive tests (352 students). For the week of 11/16-11/22 they reported 11,225 tests, with 67 positive tests (64 students).

The BU COVID Dashboard shows 419,547 total tests since the start of testing, with 406 positive tests. For 11/17-11-23 they have reported 33,280 tests, with 37 positive tests (26 students) [positive test numbers extrapolated]

The UVM weekly report for 11/22 shows 145,965 total tests since the start of testing, with 107 positive tests (66 off-campus students, 26 on campus students). For 11/16-11/22 they have reported 12,95 tests, with 36 positive tests (26 off-campus students, 5 on campus students)

The PC COVD Dashboard shows 46,953 total tests since the start of testing, with 386 positive tests (370 students), plus another 108 positives self-reported by students. For 11/17-11/21 they reported 2,232 tests, with 46 positive tests (42 students)

The MC COVID Dashboard shows 66,382 total tests since the start of testing, with 220 positive tests. For 11/16-11/22 they reported 4,970 tests, with 53 positive tests.

The UML COVID Dashboard shows 13,641 total tests since the start of testing, with 28 positive tests. For the week ending 11/21 they reported 1,295 tests, with 12 positive tests (10 residential students and 1 off-campus student)

The UMass COVID Dashboard shows 160,983 total tests since the start of testing, with 409 positive tests. For 11/16-11/21 they reported 13,983 tests, with 88 positive tests

The UConn COVID Dashboard shows 31,157 total Storrs residential students tests since the start of testing, with 360 positive tests (the dashboard shows 426 recovered students which includes positive and symptomatic cases and 40 active cases. Doing the math it would appear that 106 students were symptomatic, but not counted in the test numbers). They also reported 5,715 commuter student test until 9/13, 93 with positive results and another 295 off-campus positive results since 9/13

What can see seen is the schools have widely varying COVID testing policies for the general student and employee populations. Still, positive results appear to be trending up at every school. Here are the percentage of cases in the past week~ compared to total cases for each school: Maine 48% (for entire UMaine system); UML 43%; UVM 34%; MC 24%; UMass 22%; NU 19%; BC 18%; PC 12%; UNH 10% (for entire UNH system); BU 9%; UConn 9% (residential only)

Sorry, my oversight. So approx. 1,000 positive tests at NU then.

Update as of about an hour ago: 349 positives on 438,619 tests. Seven-day moving average ticks up to .21. Here's the link to the tracking dashboard (it's public record so anyone can look):

Testing Dashboard - News @ Northeastern

This is still a good number considering MA is around 3% and Boston is flirting with 10%. Trend is moving in the wrong direction, unfortunately.

These numbers though are double/triple counting the same people for negative tests...
