Grand Unified Election Thread 2: What is the difference between Biden and Dump?

And I knew you’d be first person here to disagree haha

Hey dont get me wrong...I will be happy as heck they called it but I think he is reaching with his reasoning. Its like he thinks if the election is called for Biden Trump is just gonna not tweet out lies and misinformation. That is literally all Trump has done since like 2014 ;^)

Plus I want Anderson Cooper to troll Trump as it happens live on the air Friday Night Primetime!

Note to activists: A dude from Texas named Crenshaw, who is the next answer to the Republicans’ need for a lord and master, is equivocating with Trumpiness with the “vast irregularities and lack of transparency” lies. Let’s make sure this anti-democracy career is aborted.
The Republican Party is destroying itself for the piggie Trump.

I do too. If the model at a network's decision desk says call it, call it. If the AP called AZ as soon as they did, surely they could be calling other states based on the same expected data.

I think the whole lesson of the Dump Midpresidency is do not change norms when dealing with an outlier. Do whatever you would do if it was some other guy. I suspect networks would be very shy after 2000 and after the polling being off. I'm fine with it if they hold off until, at least, the number of remaining ballots falls below the margin.

Pirate Paul Ryan is just trying to figure out how to get maximum teevee time.

Me too.

This was chastening. Nobody wants my Workers Paradise. :-(
I admire your self-awareness but it’s also a little sad. have this tweet from Max Kennerly
“Here's the Dem vote margin for the 24 vulnerable Democratic House candidates compared to their GovTrack ideology score. There's of course a million caveats here, but, in the aggregate: the more conservative their record in Congress, the worse they fared at the polls.”

Good god...when did it become news that different people from different areas arent always going to agree on the message. When is the media gonna start calling a spade a spade and recognize that what works in Detroit or Minnesota might not work in Texas and Flo(R)ida and having the caucus discuss that (even heatedly) is a good thing? This stinks more of the crap Politico would write not someone at WaPo.

The media's incessant need to try and paint the Dems as always one step away from imploding is almost as bad as their coddling of Trump and normalizing his BS for most of his presidency.

Um, never?

There are a ton of people that crossed the aisle to vote Trump out, and most of those people are horrified at the "defund the police" stuff. My vote for Biden was a vote against the shitbag in chief, not to embrace AOC. And unfortunately, there are a lot of people too turned off by the far left to go as far as I did.

National parties and the media have nationalized races for ever. Moderates lose races all the time because a loon in another state was transposed onto them.

I understand that, but my syllogism was:

Term: Enthused people vote
Proposition: Socialism makes current non-voters enthused
Conclusion: Therefore, socialism will make current non-voters vote

The Proposition's truth value is less certain now. Biden and Dump made current non-voters enthused but they are not socialism.

We'll know more when we have detailed crosstabs and analysis in the next few months or years.

GA Election Official demonstrates that stand-up is an art that is crafted over years of practice and spectacular failure.

Right. But for some reason lazy journalists cant seem to figure out that a moderate Dem in a purple or red district is not going to be able to run on "Defund the Police" and "Stack the Court". Its why I said it was stupid to allow that to be the rhetoric. They should have shut it down whenever asked. (like Biden did) If someone in Seattle or Portland wants that as their platform fine...but AOC had it right when she said its about winning and then lobbying later.

The media though never says that, they know that Dems and their voters are volatile and will fall for clickbait so they push the stupid narrative and end up birthing it into reality. The caucus should be heated, the Dems lost ground. The various wings are trying to figure out an agenda that wont alienate half their voters. That is how things work. Why does the media act like everyone is just going to agree on everything? Reps from the same state in a Party often cant agree. They represent different areas and different constituencies. That is called governing.

I am just sick of seeing this crap. The so called "Liberal Media" does this every time. If they had gotten the Blue Wave they would have found a way to talk about how the "Newbies" are going to be fighting with the "Vets" and how it is tearing the party apart. Meanwhile they never talked about how the Trumpers basically forced the last of the McCain style GOPers out of the Party (until the Lincoln Project made it a massive issue) and they ignored it when the Tea Party and the Fredumbers did the same thing. If they are so "Liberally Biased" why the heck do they paint Libs as weak and GOPers as strong?
