I still say you should replace the Olympics with the Champions League in this scenario, since the Olympics in soccer is the equivalent of the World juniors in hockey. And the Champions League is the best equivalent of the Stanley Cup.

I stick by my criteria. A similar restriction exists for hockey players and the Olympics and World Championships. The Club World Cup is a defined Club World Championship with a history going back decades as the Intercontinental Cup, just because the Euros don't care about it doesn't mean the rest of the world doesn't care.
