ZOMG! THE FORCE AWAKENS!: All-Spoiler And Discussion Thread

Re: ZOMG! THE FORCE AWAKENS!: All-Spoiler And Discussion Thread

Too late on that last bit there.

Re: ZOMG! THE FORCE AWAKENS!: All-Spoiler And Discussion Thread

Early reviews seem to be positive to glowing.

Of course, the real question is will it break the opening weekend record. I think it's got a shot, even matinees are selling out here, and it's playing almost every half hour at a couple of the mega plexes.

I received an email from Marcus Theaters on Monday, where I bought my ticket online, asking its patrons to follow certain protocols because they're expecting to be so busy it could cause them huge problems in their lobbies and concession stands.

Prob.

Early reports are that this opening will blow away every other opening ever, and I'm not surprised. Even The Dark Knight I saw on opening weekend, Sunday morning, and theater was half full at best. I expect full houses EVERYwhere this weekend.

Re: ZOMG! THE FORCE AWAKENS!: All-Spoiler And Discussion Thread

I'm kicking around the idea of going up to the local cheapie theater this weekend to see it. Its only a one theater theater. Normally they just have one showing at 7 every night. Looked at their website and they're doing 7 and 10 oclock showings for next week.

Oh and yeah, Han shoots first!

Yes, but you are doing a good job taking over the cranky old miser role from Old Pio, so keep it up.
I can only hope to be that cranky, he was as good as it gets

Am I the only one who doesn't give 2 ****s about star wars

No, I'm with you on this. This level of orgasmic excitement over a movie is a little unsettling. There's no way it can live up to the hype.

"Star Wars? Is that the one with the gay robot and the guy in black that's somebody's daddy?"

I'd like to have the money Disney is going to make on all this. Not sure if anyone has ever been to Universal in Orlando and seen the crowds for the Harry Potter ride but I'm betting Disney will cash in on this at Hollywood studios when they change a big part of the park in to Star wars land or whatever they are going to call it. Disney is the king of marketing

They've already opened a section of the park for Star Wars. They opened it a week or two prior.

They've had a section on it for awhile, they are set to do much bigger things with Star wars there

Then why post here?

I like Star Wars and all, but I'm not going ballistic over it. To be honest, I'm seeing it tomorrow so I don't have to worry about hearing spoilers on the internet or from friends. I hate crowded theaters, even if all are following the "no cellphone" rules, etc.

How pathetic is your day that you have to come into a thread about something you dont care about and crap on it to people who actually enjoy it? I kind of feel sorry for you...nah I dont sit on it and twirl if you dont like the movies too flipping bad because it aint going nowhere. But hey dont worry old guys you will live on to troll another day :D

The movie is going to destroy the opening weekend record (it is projected at $250 million) and I would put good money on the idea that it will beat Avatar as well...

BECAUSE IT WAS AWESOME! It was everything that was great about the originals without the bloat and stupidity of Lucas inspired scripts. Lots of laughs, some good twists, lots of great callbacks and the action was superb. I wont even discuss the spoilery stuff yet because trust me, you dont want to know you have to see it all on screen. Oh and practical effects and real/costumes sets FTW! Throw in some real old school lightsaber battles (none of that Prequel dance around CGI crap) and oh man!

It is my second favorite of all the movies, and it could actually end up being my favorite depending how it is followed up. As someone that dislikes JJ quite a bit I will say this was the movie he was born to make and he nailed it. I went with my buddy and our girlfriends (the girls like Star Wars, he and I are uber fans) and all 4 of us gave it between 9 and a 10. He and I flat out said if we didnt have jobs we would hop back in line and see it again we liked it that much.

Avoid as much info as you can, I went in almost blind and it made the experience so much better!
