Youth Sports, Parents Livin the Dream

I saw in our local fishwrap today that a signup meeting is being held for 3 year old tee ball.
Am I wrong to think that is ridiculous?
How does that work, does little3 year old Johnnie ask mom and dad if he can play baseball this summer.

Yes, as long as mom and dad can feel free to approve the lineup, have access to the dugout and scream at coaches & umps.

Starting at three? With parents that slow getting their kids into the game little Johnny has no shot at a MLB career. Lazy SOBs.

Maybe the ball and tee they use in the game is 3 years old?

My kid played t ball at 4 and it was bad. 5 wasn't much better. They actually played a "game" and had some awareness of what was actually going on when they hit 6 in our local system.

Nice title. I'm beginning to sense a vibe of impending doom, however.

I regularly see 12-14 year old kids that don't know how to play the game of baseball... How does one teach a 3 year old? I don't see how this is anything more than one kid hitting, and the other kids chasing the ball...

Actually, it's one kid (maybe) hitting the ball, two kids chasing the ball, and 15 kids picking their noses, daydreaming, heck, now they probably play with smartphones.

Once saw a kid (much older than 3) hit the ball, and tear down the third base line. Loved it. One of my favorite memories of youth sports.

Toughest day for a parent is when you find out your kid is not as good as you think he/she is. Usually the kid knows way before you do, too.
