Re: Your Preferred "Nontraditional" FF Location?

Chicago is a great city, but the rink is in the middle of nowhere. It's not like DC, Milwaukee, or Boston in so far as the rink it set right downtown. Pittsburgh would be a good time. Dallas could be a neat option, too.
You must have misunderstood the question. The venue for a Chicago Frozen 4 would most definitely be Soldier Field. ;)

Re: Your Preferred "Nontraditional" FF Location?

Why would anybody in their right mind choose any of these cities over New Orleans (except for New York). People would rather spend time in Toronto or Dallas than New Orleans?

While the city should have something to offer besides hockey, I prefer a city who at least "gets" the hockey atmosphere. NO? Forget it. Except for a select few cities, thanks to the NHL mostly, anything south of the Mason-Dixon line is out, IMO.

Re: Your Preferred "Nontraditional" FF Location?

I voted for Nashville. Bridgestone Arena is a very nice facility, and it is right downtown, as in, a block from a ton of bars/restaurants. I also voted for it because I live an hour away and would be able to go. :D

Re: Your Preferred "Nontraditional" FF Location?

Voted for San Diego for selfish reasons (location close to home). But overall Chicago is the best choice for these reasons:

1) Attendance - United Center holds 22,000 fans
2) Support - 3 million Blackhawk fans turned out for their Stanley cup parade and more fans are joining their hockey bandwagon every day. Chicago and Illinois hockey fans have shown that they would be great hosts and deserve to host a Frozen Four.
4) Chicago - is a tourist friendly city. Lots of great bars and restaraunts. Rush Street.
5) Blackhawk fans wear sweaters in July.:D
6) Chicago and Illinois need more exposure to Division I hockey.

Chicago would be fantastic! NHL Arena, centrally located with easy air access from anywhere.

This will never happen, but I'd LOVE to see a REGIONAL in Toronto.

I would rather see a game aboard a barge on the Rio Grande than in a dome.

That is probably why Chicago has never really been considered. NYC probably could not have it in MSG either since other events take over the rink at that time so where would they have it. In NJ or out on the island? Does Orlando have a rink?

Re: Your Preferred "Nontraditional" FF Location?

Kansas City does a great job with the Big-12 hoops tourney--outdoor street party--whole town gets into it. With the growing popularity of college hockey in Missouri (now #5 or 6 in numbers of D1 players) I think the Sprint Center would be an excellent venue. Great BBQ, very nice April weather (in the 80's this week). Good occasional "western" substitute for Denver/Grand Forks/St. Paul in the rotation.
