your one do-over

Something to keep the creative juices flowing here everybody. Pick that one game, from the entire history of games you've watched that if you could play it over again because your team lost on a flukey goal or a back call perhaps. A loss to a big rival, or something from tournement time perhaps??

Stolen from a thread on the DI board. Just want to see what everyone's input is.

Re: your one do-over

For Plattsburgh that's easy:

The loss to Neuman in the 2009 NCAA 1/4's

As a Plattsburgh fan, that one hurt, particularly with the championships being held in Lake Placid, but for me, a do-over - 1990 Game 3 - Stevens Point:(

Re: your one do-over

Hey, i was perfectly honest about the fact that I was copying off of you. I'm surprised you didn't do this on the DIII boards yourself.

Oh, I probably was going to get around to it sooner or later. I just didn't want to drag this forum into a big pee-pee match over a do over involving a committee. ;)

Re: your one do-over

For SNC there have been several kicks to the jewels in the NCAA Quarterfinals over the last decade or so. Home losses to Point, Middlebury, Superior, and St. Thomas all hurt. All four of those teams got to the title game with Middlebury and Superior winning it those years. Middlebury was a little better than SNC that year, but SNC was every bit as good as Superior even with a goalie who was fighting every puck, and better than both St. Thomas and Point (although Gorman in net was the great equalizer).

Maybe I feel like facing painful memories today or something because while these are all excellent candidates, none of the four are my choice for the do-over. The 03-04 National Championship game vs Middlebury would be the one. To take a shutout into OT and still lose hurts. To look back and know all you needed to do was convert on one of your first 27 SOGs for a National Title is a tough pill to swallow.

Comes down to a choice between these two:

Fri Mar 19, 2004 vs Middlebury 2- 3 L 2OT

Sat Mar 16, 2002 vs Wis-Superior 2- 3 L OT

I'll go with March 16th, because of the timing.

Not only would I like to go back and have my field reporter equipment work that night, if you read the recap you can see just how close the game was despite the final score. The final game for a lot of the guys that helped bring Geneseo hockey out of the cellar, it'd be great to have that one back.

Re: your one do-over

This was an easy one;) .....with a total of 4 losses to consider I'd like to "do-over" the November 1,2008 4-2 loss to the eventual National Champions.....:D

Re: your one do-over

That was a weird game. It was like something wasn't right on the ice. I could never put my finger on it. I didn't give it much thought after that because I didn't see it again the rest of the season.

Re: your one do-over

For Elmira...

2006 NCAA Semifinal against Middlebury

Lost 2-1....Led 1-0 for a little while.

Best chance for an Elmira National Championship since Spinelli was here.

The recap mentions Stephens' shot from the point in the second period. I remember the expression on his face after that, heartbreaking. Sure would be nice to see the team get back to NCAA level.

Re: your one do-over

there was a SNC @ UWS game awhile back where SNC came into Wessman ranked number 1 and UWS had the lead with like 10 seconds left. SNC tied it with a few seconds to go and game ended in a tie....I'd like those ten seconds back.

in my own life..i would not have moved to az a year ago if i knew i'd be fu**ed now

Re: your one do-over

EC vs. River Falls mini-game 1988 NCAA finals.

I strongly agree on this one, the closest EC has ever been to winning "The Big One"
The Midd. game would be nice to see how it ended had we not taken the dumb penalty so late in the game.

Re: your one do-over

The OT loss to River in the last game of the regular season in 2007. It cost Stout an outright NCHA championship and largely contributed to the Blue Devils getting snubbed by the selection committee.

Re: your one do-over

Oswego L to norwich, 2-1. National championship game. Wego was up 1-0 with around 15 minute to go in the 3rd. :(

For Umass-Dartmouth, the NCAA QF 2-1 loss "@" middlebury that should have been at hetland arena if someone not even on or with the team had filled out the right paperwork.
