Re: Yale @ RPI - Saturday, Feb 16th

That was impressive! To come out and play that kind of third period on a Saturday night against a team as good as Yale says a lot about this team.

Re: 3-1 rpi

Give this team every bit of credit they deserve-they looked near dead after 2 perioods. To be able to come out and play a third period like this against one of the better teams in the country-and make no mistake Yale is that good. This is an incredible streak and right now any team in theleague or maybe in the nation will have trouble with us. League Win number 8 in a row-who would have thunk it???

Re: Yale @ RPI - Saturday, Feb 16th

Dartmouth 5, Colgate 4 in closing seconds
Union 1, Brown 0 about 2 mins to go
SLU over Princeton, 3-2
Cornell & Harvard tied at 2
no score update for Q/CCT since end of 1st

Re: Yale @ RPI - Saturday, Feb 16th

We have not often been able to win when we play two substandard periods. But his is a very different RPI team. We have a rock solid goaltender and a solidifying defense that just keeps things to the side. We have forwards who keep pushing the puck up ice and every night it is someone else. My puck of the night goes to Laliberte for just a beautiful pass to Bailen for the second goal-and that may have well been the difference in the game. Go Red!!!

Re: Yale @ RPI - Saturday, Feb 16th

Can someone explain the rule to me there? Is it just a case where an obvious goal cannot be taken away for the net coming off, regardless of intent?

If the defending team knocks the net off the pegs (either intentionally or not) but the net is still on one peg solidly, and the attackiing team gets a goal, if it is determined by the referee that a goal would have been scored if the net wasn't knocked off, it shall count. The ref made the right call, wave it off, then review it. I thought that RPI played very well in the first, not as bad as what people said on here. The second period, not so much. In fact, I told Ryan and Kurt during the second intermission that if RPI plays the way they did in the first period, they would score three goals. They did, and guess how many they got? :D

Re: Yale @ RPI - Saturday, Feb 16th

In all the hockey games I have ever attended, I have never seen nets fly off of their moorings more than this game. I know you guys joked about it earlier, but is it really this way every game? It was worse than TV timeouts at one point. Nice win tonight. Yale is a tired team that is lacking direction at this point.

With the east end goal, unfortunately so. The west end, not so much. One of my friends seems to think there may be an issue even where the ice is fairly soft.

It was worse than usual this weekend although the moorings are never really great... There was a concert at HFH earlier in the week and I wonder if that impacted the ice quality. The east end (where Yale defended twice) had problems during the Brown game too which also required the intervention of "Drill Guy" (a fan favorite).
