Yale @ RPI on Saturday, Nov. 5th

Re: Yale @ RPI on Saturday, Nov. 5th

And RPI takes another penalty. This will carry over to OT assuming nothing happens in the next 4 seconds.

Re: Yale @ RPI on Saturday, Nov. 5th

The good news is that I did not get into an accident driving back to the hotel.

Good to hear you got back safe, Ralph.

Sidenote: Speaking as a fan and NOT as a broadcaster, that loss was demoralizing.

Re: Yale @ RPI on Saturday, Nov. 5th

My wife asked me a good question tonight I could not answer. However, I assume it had to do with the time being less than 1 or 2 minutes left in the game. Why did they care, or add, about how much time was on the clock at 3.8 seconds left in the 3rd period? It is no different than when they start a faceoff any other time during the game and stop play right away after the puck is dropped do to whatever reason.

3.9 seconds is enough time to score a quick goal off the faceoff, vs. 2.8 seconds, especially if a quick rebound is involved. Couple with this the number of 19:59 goals scored at HFH within the last decade (albeit mostly vs. another team), although it didn't matter here, it has a significant chance of mattering.

Re: Yale @ RPI on Saturday, Nov. 5th

I thought that the team had played the best 17 minutes of a third period that I had ever seen. The did not lay back and the scored their second goal.
At this point, I would normally blame the referees, but they were consistent and had many questionable calls against Yale, and put them in some bad situations late in the third as well. I thought that Perry was not ready for either of the two goals in regulation.
Maybe he was screened on the first, but I don't know what happened on the second. Just a bad goal.
Just a demoralizing game for us fans.

On one of the goals, the puck dropped behind him in the crease. It happened a couple times last night, only this time we weren't there to clean it out.

The referees are absolutely not to blame this time around, and that's saying a lot when I'm usually incredibly critical of them. The penalties were obvious and incredibly bone-headed. There is no one to blame but us.

The puck went out of play with 3.9 seconds left on the clock, two seconds ran off the clock. This was the right decision.
