Re: Yale @ RPI 12/6/2019

Another one of those games we could win, should win, now becomes one that we better win. Season is starting to fly by and has been the case for many of the past season, hopeful beginnings begin to fade. This weekend is the time to turn this all around and play like this team can and actually did earlier in the season. There is enough talent on the ice and on the bench to compete with virtually any team. Time to show it. Let's Go Red!!!

Expect low turnout tonight. Currently snowing and expecting another 3-6”

That's not that much for the hearty folks of Troy. That would be a catastrophic amount for the Jersey shore to deal with and would close down virtually everything. But i think the turnout will be low for a lot of other reasons. Over the many years we attended, Yale and Brown never really ever brought much of a fan following to HFH. And during this stretch between Thanksgiving and Christmas our own fans normally and students either had other things to be busy with or were off on vacation.
I am not sure we will ever see the attendance figures of the past even with a successful team as too many are content to sit home and watch or listen to the broadcasts. If we lived closer, we would be at every possible game. There is no comparison between live and video hockey.

Apparently attendance is down all over. Cornell fans on eLynah are bemoaning attendance, and they are undefeated.

It has been a while ;) since I left Troy, but when I was there 3" - 6" would have been nothing.

It hasn’t been that long. You just left Troy last month. :)

Don’t know where Jericho is getting 3-6”. They’re only forecasting an inch or two here. And the snow will be out of here before game time.

OTOH, I got this tweet forwarded by Ken Schott:

Maybe we shouldn't do a good job broadcasting then. :D

And I heard 3-6" on the radio forecast this morning as I was driving. But who really knows for sure. If Ralph were here for this weekend, the snow would be over his head. :D

For some of us 3"-6" is not that much, it all depends on your frame of reference;) I love the RPI-TV broadcasts and could only wish they could be doing some road games also but understand why they cannot. WRPI has always done a five star production when games are not video cast. I think we all take that for granted until there is a game or two that is not carried by them on the air. But yes, some of the attendance loss can be traced to the fact that games can be followed on the web and that probably affects virtually all teams.

Re: Yale @ RPI 12/6/2019

Alec Calvaruso is dressed as a third goalie. I didn't think he would be eligible until after finals.

Edit: Oops, Sezenack posted that already.

Maybe they're trying to address the issue of attendance being low because the broadcasts are so good.
