If Yale had athletic scollys, they'd do very well in those leagues. Even without them, these days, Yale can skate with just about any team.
How would Yale fare if they played in Hockey East, CCHA or WCHA?

I think the only question is how much better Yale would be if they played in HEA. Give them the same academic brand, the same commitment to hockey, and more national exposure - why would they do worse?Yale would fare quite well in any league they play in...and I hate the ********s...

I have introduced myself in the past, but in case you missed it, I am the older brother of a great kid who on Friday will move to New Haven to begin his career as a student athlete at Yale. I also have a fairly successful podcast add occasionally we have special "Athlete Spotlight" episodes. We have talked with Deuce McAllister, David Justice, Reggie Smith, Carter Camper and now... Anthony Day. I spend about 30 minutes talking to him about youth hockey, playing prep as a sophomore, his dominate senior season, adjusting to the USHL, being recruited, deciding on Yale, and much more. I think you will get the chance to learn about Anthony on and off the ice. I am confident you will all love him. Check it out and let me know what you think.

The overall level of talent in HEA is quite a bit higher than in ECAC. Many players at BU and BC, in particular, are elite level talents in college hockey with size. As we've seen in the past, Yale has had issues going toe to toe with large teams with size and speed.
HEA teams also have the advantage of not being hampered by inability to give out athletic scholarships and more lax academic requirements for student athletes. Also don't discount the fact that many kids growing up in New England dream about playing for schools with the storied histories like BU and BC.

Ordered my season tix today, Aisle eight top row. Interesting comment by Jeremy at the ticket office, during any televised games at Ingalls I would have my seat moved as the camera platform would be on my seats, he mentioned Cornell would be televised and one other game which i do not remember.

I'll be down in Row B below you. My kids may be teenagers, but they still like to be near the boards when there's a big hit. We've struck up quite a friendship with the YPHB.

The new goalie set some impressive records in Chicago despite a losing team record. Most league saves and minutes played are among those. That says he's had a lot of time in net and will hopefully bring that experience to the team this year. I'm looking forward to watching him play.
It seems that Keith is on top of this given that 4 defensemen are coming in. I agree that the offense should be okay, to me, the big question is between the pipes. The freshman sounds great.
I saw the OT of the UMD victory tonight. Nice game/outcome for them.

My guess is that Yale won't be sorry. From viewing his Jr. stats I think it's fair to say that Wilson is pretty driven no matter what the obstacles. I feel optomistic about the Bulldogs this season.
Colgate's Eric Mihalik played for Des Moines, the worst USHL team in 09-10 and had an under .90 save percentage and over 2.9 GAA, and RPI and Union saw his potential in the playoffs and Yale did at New Haven. Wilson could be very good.
