Yale Mens Hockey 2021-2022

Yale beat RPI last night 5-3.

TROY, N.Y. Ian Carpentier had two goals and an assist to lead the Yale Men's Ice Hockey Team to a 5-3 win over RPI at Houston Field House.

"Great job by the guys tonight to earn our first road win of the year," said Keith Allain '80, Yale's Malcolm G. Chace Head Coach. "Everyone made a contribution, which is the only way to win in our league."

Carpentier, who got all his points in the third period, assisted on a goal that gave the Elis a 3-1 lead before hitting the net twice. His second goal was a shot from the left circle that went top shelf to put the game away.

Nathan Reid, the MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week by ECAC Hockey this week, stopped 23 shots to earn the win in net.

Yale over Union 3-2 in OT. The team is head and shoulders above where they were when I was wondering in November if there was any team they could beat.

Carpentier with two more goals and Wooding with the game winner in a mostly one sided OT.

Would love to see how good they could be with even a mediocre power play.

Yale loses its second straight game in overtime and third straight overall. The optimism I felt a couple of weeks ago is waning. They are still horrible on the power play and tonight against St Lawrence they looked out of gas late in the 3rd and in OT

Yale loses a 2 goal first period lead and loses to Clarkson 3-2. They actually played pretty well and even scored a PP goal, but 1 for 6 is not setting the world on fire. Four straight losses, two in OT.

Yale lost at Princeton last night.

The good news is they scored on the power play.

The bad news, that was their only goal in a 2-1 defeat and they have lost five straight.

Yale was shutout this weekend losing 2-0 to Harvard and 1-0 to Dartmouth on Friday and Saturday. They actually played well against Dartmouth, but if you can't score, you don't win. Another 0-for (obviously) on the power play.

Some positive news is that Brian O’Neill and Kenny Agostino have both scored goals for the Olympic hockey team reminding us of better days.

Yale sweeps the weekend beating Union 3-2 on Friday and RPI 5-2 on Saturday. Finally some actual PP production with 2 PP goals on Friday and another 2 on Saturday in addition to a shorthanded goal on Saturday.

Nathan Reid was outstanding in goal Friday night with 31 saves, 17 in the third period as Yale held off Union.
