Yale Hockey 2017-2018 Season Thread

Re: Yale Hockey 2017-2018 Season Thread

The lack of any kind of production on the power play is really getting embarrassing. ASU has improved, but really, should this game have been close?

I was there and Yale was certainly the more talented squad. The problem with the team is the lack of net front presence as well as a proven finisher (one this year in Snively). Tucker bailed them out on more than one occasion as well. The team is small compared to other D-1 teams and is prone to being kept to the perimeter by stronger and larger teams. Snively's winning OT goal was a pleasure to behold, he played his *** off all night and deserved it!

A win is a win, I guess. Anytime Yale gets a power play goal in a game this season it's a positive.

Re: Yale Hockey 2017-2018 Season Thread

Two OT wins in a row. Yale outshot ASU 57 to 25 and the game should not have been close except for the ASU's goalie standing on his head for three periods. Pretty incredible drive and shot by Evan Smith to win the game last night. These two games were essentially exhibitions as they had hardly any pairwise or division implications. The best takeaway was that no one got hurt.

Re: Yale Hockey 2017-2018 Season Thread

I just did a little checking. If Yale had beaten Brown, RPI, and SLU--flipping those three losses to wins--the team would be 20th in PW and possibly in competition for an NCAA berth. All of those were winnable games. Hard to believe, but a few ppgs and a lucky bounce or two and the whole season would feel different.

Regardless, the team has improved over the season, individual players have improved, and I think the team can finish strong.

Solid effort tonight. If they could stay out of the penalty box they could be tough in the playoffs.

Re: Yale Hockey 2017-2018 Season Thread

About time they beat that team. Princeton will be a tough match up tonight. Need to maintain the forecheck and not let Princeton’s forwards get on the cycle.

Re: Yale Hockey 2017-2018 Season Thread

Finally. Yes. It wasn't pretty but they got the job done. Loved Sweezy's goal and Kemp's back-kick skate deflection late in the game.

Princeton is fast and can score. I agree that the forecheck needs to be strong tonight. But with a win, along with Colgate and Dartmouth losses, Yale could be tied for 5th (5-8).

Double hat tricks will usually win a game, it was close until the start of the third. Fun team to watch lately.

Congrats on the win and the offensive explosion with two hatties...that Princeton team is hard to figure out!

Re: Olympics

Big win tonight. Almost a must win with Cornell coming up tomorrow. Yale played well, especially the last 30 minutes. Thanks to Colgate for streaming the game.

Re: Yale Hockey 2017-2018 Season Thread

Glad to see Evan Smith get back in the game after that tough collision. Great team effort in the third. Snively has been a wonder lately. Cornell is tough but can be taken down.

Re: Yale Hockey 2017-2018 Season Thread

Use your speed and you beat Cornell tonight. You guys are very quick.
