Yale Hockey 2017-2018 Season Thread

Another season for Yale Mens hockey, a curious schedule with Harvard bookending the season. The Ledyard Tournament at Dartmouth at the end of December should be the benchmark on how this team turns out. Still a young team that will have plenty to work on. Who ends up as Yales netminder? No clue here, and i think allain likes it that way to build competition among the candidates. The new team______________

LTsatch, when comparing rosters especially where the players played their juniors, it would make sense why Yale has been better than the BIG Green for all these years...plenty of USHL players.

The program was choosing USHL players well before it became a trend, but you can also say that the 2013 Championship was USHL vs. BCHL. Each team has it's pipeline(s). Former Yale Assistant Dan Muse was huge during that recruitment time period and went on to be the Clark cup winning Head Coach of The Chicago Steel. His hard work was noticed by The Nashville Predators where he is now an Assistant Coach. From what I have heard the USHL has also become very popular with European Players as well. I have made reservations for The Ledyard tournament, should be a season highlight, four good teams.

Re: Yale Hockey 2017-2018 Season Thread

ECAC Media Day Yale tied for sixth in the pre season ECAC media poll with Union, the coaches picked Yale eighth. Joe Snively chosen for the pre-season All-ECAC team.

Re: Yale Hockey 2017-2018 Season Thread

LTsatch, cannot agree more on the talent you guys get especially when Dan Muse was a major part of it; I am quite sure he still is and now you guys have an advocate at the pro level as well. NICE!!!

Nice goal top shelf goal by Hayden last night as he fights (literally and figuratively) for an opening day roster spot!

Re: Yale Hockey 2017-2018 Season Thread

Alex Lyon a last minute call up for the Flyers against the Bruins and limits them to one goal in a full game win. Kenny Agostino with an assist on the Bruins lone goal. Agostino and O'Gara both on the bubble for the final Bruins roster spots to be determined this week. Lyon will start the season in AHL Lehigh Valley.

The Bruins and Flyers played a perfectly preseason game on Thursday night: passes were sloppy, penalties were plentiful and the game was, at times, painful to watch.

However, it ended in beautiful fashion, with Kenny Agostino deking the pants off of Alex Lyon to give the Bruins a 2-1 OT win and keep them perfect in the preseason.

Edit: Sorry. I just saw that Agostino's goal was in the old thread.

Kenny was just put on waivers, if no one claims him he is off to Providence. St. Louis might grab him.

Re: Yale Hockey 2017-2018 Season Thread

Some information concerning ticketing for the upcoming exhibition/scrimmages at Ingalls. The preseason scrimmages being played on Oct. 13 vs. Western Ontario and Oct. 21 with Brown and Princeton are scheduled as FREE events. However, contrary to a previous message, we have made the decision to make both of these events FREE AND TICKETED. You can get your tickets here. https://athletics.ticketing.yale.ed...&BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::context_id=

Also, there will be a reception for season ticket holders, info below.

Immediately following the scrimmage on Saturday, Oct. 21 we will host a post-game reception for season ticket holders, including:
* 1 1/2 hrs of open skating at Ingalls (must bring your own skates!)
* snacks and beverages in the Schley Room
* access to away game tickets, including access to tickets to the @Quinnipiac game

Re: Yale Hockey 2017-2018 Season Thread

Well, the Joe Snively show continues, 2 goals and 4 assists. Nice to see O'Neil get off to a good start with two goals. This real season can't start soon enough.

Re: Yale Hockey 2017-2018 Season Thread

Hello everyone! As you may or may not have seen, vicb is not running the annual ECAC Pick the Standings contest this season. I have decided to take up the torch and run it. I know we are running on rather short notice as the season will start in just four days, but hopefully we can get a decent turnout regardless. If you'd like to participate, just head on over to the thread and submit your prediction! Thanks and good luck!

I take from your comment that you were impressed with O'Neill?

I should have said "nice to read", I did not attend either of the Yale pre-season games, I will be at Brown this coming Saturday though, my wife just happened to need to go to Newport during the day :)

Re: Yale Hockey 2017-2018 Season Thread

The 2017-2018 season is finally upon us. I will be attending both games this weekend as some family travel to RI on Saturday just needed to happen. Not much news on the personnel front, have not heard any reports of injuries, but with Yale, you don't know that until game time anyway. Very interested in seeing Kemp and O'Neil in person. Also wondering if Allain will keep the Snively, Hitchcock, O'Neil line intact after the great first scrimmage by that trio, or does he spread the talent around?

Looks like first line will stick together

Re: Yale Hockey 2017-2018 Season Thread

Disjointed play by Yale tonight led to a 1-4 loss (2ENG). Brown's Nieto basically stole the game with a glove that Yale seemed intent on shooting at. Outshot Bruno 40 something to 20 with many chances including at least five powerplays. Brown did a great job of getting in the way of Yale's quick forwards and contested passes enough to frustrate Yale. Nice to see Kemp with his first goal. O'Neil looked good as well. One problem was making too many passes during the PP, they need to get the puck on net. Tucker improved as the game went on, but the two glove side goals were savable IMO. It will be interesting to see if Allain starts someone else in Providence, the word is Kasperski is next on the depth chart at goalie.
