Yale - Colgate ECACH Semi-Final 3/18/11 in Atlantic City

Re: Yale - Colgate ECACH Semi-Final 3/18/11 in Atlantic City

First period shots ended up even 8-8, after Yale got out to a 6 or 7 shot advantage before 'Gate put their first shot on net almost midway through.

The period kind of went that way, too. I would give Yale the opening advantage, but I would give Colgate the nod in the second half of the period. As one of the announcers said, paraphrasing, every minute Colgate stays in the game, their confidence will increase.

That's the take I got on the period as well....Most of the grade A chances came from Yale and it was early on as well. Not many shots from Colgate that were from in close.

Yale student announcers estimate 3,000 in the 9,000+ seat building. Just looks terrible. But having said that, I don't think attendance remotely matters in terms of outcome.

Colgate GOAL :18 sec. into the 2nd. period.......1-0 Colgate

Re: Yale - Colgate ECACH Semi-Final 3/18/11 in Atlantic City

Goal is under review....Ok no goal, they rule it was kicked into the net by a Colgate forward......0-0

Re: Yale - Colgate ECACH Semi-Final 3/18/11 in Atlantic City

Puck crosses Yale goal line 18 seconds in but play is up for video review. No goal! Phew.

I was noticing more and more as the game has gone along that it appears as though the arena is filling in, so 3000 sounds about correct. Not too bad.

Re: Yale - Colgate ECACH Semi-Final 3/18/11 in Atlantic City

And yes you are correct attendance has nothing to do with the final score ;)

Re: Yale - Colgate ECACH Semi-Final 3/18/11 in Atlantic City

Colgate has controlled the play early on in the 2nd.....They have really impressed me so far.....Still 0-0

Re: Yale - Colgate ECACH Semi-Final 3/18/11 in Atlantic City

Near miss by Yale on a scramble in front still 0-0 16:00 left in the 2nd. period

Re: Yale - Colgate ECACH Semi-Final 3/18/11 in Atlantic City

Agreed. Colgate playing very well. They are very much in the game. Outcome won't be shocking, either way.

Re: Yale - Colgate ECACH Semi-Final 3/18/11 in Atlantic City

Shots now read 13-10 in favor of Yale 15:00 left in the 2nd period.

Re: Yale - Colgate ECACH Semi-Final 3/18/11 in Atlantic City

Yale GOAL, off the faceoff, Cahill with the goal.....1-0 Yale

14:29 left in the 2nd period

Re: Yale - Colgate ECACH Semi-Final 3/18/11 in Atlantic City

Cahill off a faceoff win by Miller. That was evidence of Yale skill. Cahill has been huge for us this year.

Re: Yale - Colgate ECACH Semi-Final 3/18/11 in Atlantic City

Yale PP coming up.....12:04 left in the 2nd.....1-0 Yale

Re: Yale - Colgate ECACH Semi-Final 3/18/11 in Atlantic City

Yale with some early pressure on the PP and two big stops by Mihalik (spelling?)

Re: Yale - Colgate ECACH Semi-Final 3/18/11 in Atlantic City

Yale PP is over and then a holding call on Yale puts Colgate on the PP with about 9:00 to go in the 2nd. period......1-0 Yale lead

Re: Yale - Colgate ECACH Semi-Final 3/18/11 in Atlantic City

:40 left in the Colgate PP.....No shots so far and no pressure at all.

Re: Yale - Colgate ECACH Semi-Final 3/18/11 in Atlantic City

A tripping penalty on Colgate with :13 sec. left in the PP will give Yale a PP for 1:47.....7:49 left 2nd. period.....1-0 Yale
