Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

Clearly you know very little about how NCAA and pairwise works.
Due to Yale's success out of conference we stand a very good shot of NCAAs IF we can finish in top 2-3 of ECAC. Obviously ECAC tourney winner goes.
Had we not lost to HC, then we would be undefeated outside ECAC. Because of HC loss we likely need to finish 2nd in ECAC or finish 3rd but make ECAC championship game in order to qualify for big dance.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

Where they finish in the ECAC standings really does not matter. They could finish 4th in the ECAC but stay at #9 in the Pairwise and most likely make the tournament without a bunch of conference tournament upsets. Realistically though for them to stay in the top 10 of the pairwise they couldnt lose enough games to finish 4th in the ECAC.

If you lose to us again, though, hope to heck we aren't a TUC. ;)

Come down to Ingalls for the game. How about if we beat you and you somehow still become a TUC. LOL

The Harvard game this weekend is sold out, a few tix remain for Dartmouth, big weekend for Yale.

Isn't the next game in Troy? ;)

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

No worries, if you were the last place team's only victory and it was an absolute pasting at home, I'd probably want to forget it, too. ;)

That was the one weekend I could not use my season tickets, so for me actually, the game does not exist as I have no memory of it. Maybe I will take a ride up to Troy if Yale keeps playing well.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

I couldn't be more excited to be traveling to Yale for the big weekend against Harvard/Dartmouth. Just one night sleep and a six hour drive in-between Ingalls Rink and me. Lots of family headed up this weekend.

Have a safe trip and enjoy the games.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

Nice win by Yale tonight, they basically did Harvard in by forechecking the heck out of them. Miller and Lags had outstanding games. The entire defense was stellar. Malcolm deserved the shut out and made 3 or 4 tough saves, but the defense basically kept Harvard on the perimeter and made most of the saves routine. Balch also had an incredible game, all over the ice pestering the breakout. Millers passing is becoming more exciting than the goals, you are starting to hear alot of oh's and ah's just on the passes he makes. Nice to see a sellout tonight and for Dartmouth, the atmosphere at the game was great. BTW, whatever you do, do NOT look at the pairwise.

It's a good morning. But we'll have work to do tonight. The only thing to add to LTsatch's excellent commentary is Yale's judicious use of a few might checks early in the game, particularly Ags' check on Biega. Whatever drive the meagre and scandal-decimated H defense might have had coming into the game, it was less in evidence after those checks. I bet Danny Biega is popping advil this morning.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

Biega was a shell of the player i saw in the ECAC playoffs last year. Last year he controlled the game, especially on the power play, great point!

Nice win by Yale tonight ..... you do, do NOT look at the pairwise.

The pairwise is quite interesting at this point in season for Yale. We have played many fewer games than most teams, we have a very good out of conference record, and a couple of our losses are to non TUC teams. As a result a win or loss can result in significant movement up/down polls. In addition the gap between us and BC (4th in pairwise) is huge. Conversely gap between us and next 7-8 teams behind us is quite small.
Take away point from this is that the boys have put themselves into a great position, but there are still a ton of games left and we could easily fall out of top 15 with a couple losses. A win tonight would be a good step in right direction. After last nights performance, I think we have good shot.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

Nice hard fought win by The blue and White tonight. The last third of the game was quite a nail biter with Yale holding on to a sustained Dartmouth and referee attack. Kudos to Balch once again, he is the most unsung role player for Yale, his forecheck was incredible. Fallen had a great game especially with his bomb in the first (although the goal should not have happened after the puck went out of play about ten seconds previous to the goal, and was not called). Not sure what was wrong with Agostino tonight, he was off of his game, it was nice to see him assist on the game winner though. Dartmouth is the real deal, they did a good job taking Miller of the puck by knocking him on his *** repeatedly and disrupting Yales flow, especially late in the game. We will take this one and run with it. #5 in the Pairwise now!
