Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

Terrific effort by Yale to come back and tie the game in the 3rd period. And we **** near had it won with that bang-bang play by Bourbo and Lags. Great save byGrosenick on that play. Any fair minded Yale fan would have to agree that our team lacks the polish that Union displayed tonight. Our power play was disorganized and frenetic whereas Union was surgical and efficient. But give it time...I am confident this Yale team will continue to improve.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

Much better effort, but still alot to work on. Root and Ruffalo being injured really hurts, Ward and Day did not have good games. It was nice to see Killian out there, he had a solid game. Tough night for the linesmen! Does anybody know what the actual call was when they stopped play with Union seeming to stall behind their own net? After Bourbo ran over the linesman coming out of the box, the guy actually chased him around the ice screaming at him.

For Union the tie was disappointing as we could not hold a two goal lead going into the third period for the second consecutive night. Still I think the tie was in order for both teams. Both teams have some work to do but I think at the end of the season both have a good chance to get a first round bye. See you in Schenectady! BTW, Scott Wheeler, one of the linesmen called icing on Yale during a penalty kill. Scott, is a former Union hockey player but I think that was a bit too blatant to help the cause. ;)

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

Chip Malafronte's blog ( http://nhrcollegehockey.blogspot.com/ ) hasn't been updated in 4 months. Did he get liad off or something? Last Sunday's NHR report of the Saturday evening Brown game was nothing more than a couple paragraph cut and paste job from the yalebulldogs.com write up of the game.

Chip was interviewed by Adlon Adams during one of the early home game broadcasts. No idea why he is not blogging on Yale for the Register, short article in the NHR for the Union game, so obviously he is still employed. The Register has been downsizing dramatically in the recent past and will probably end up an all digital publication soon. Bill Cloutier did the story on the RPI game for the NHR

Edit---- It actually looks like the majority of the sports bloggers on the NHR site are not updating. Money?

The Yale football blog still updates regularly (with not a lot to do in the offseason, obviously). So it just looks like something they're half-hearted about.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

Time to get a little revenge on UMASS after the spanking they gave Yale last year. Coach Allain better have the team ready for this game. They do not have a stellar record, but have tied QPAC and beat New Hampshire.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

I believe the standard answer to that, given Allain's predisposition to silence, is "You'll know by 7:15."

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

Root and Ruffolo are not in the lineup tonight, according to the line charts. I haven't heard anything about their status. After today, the team won't play until the 28th, so even if they are slightly banged up it may make sense to let them rest.

Ruffolo had his arm in a sling on Saturday night, I doubt he will play tonight.

Game recap:

A good game tonight against a weaker opponent. Some defenseive lapses, especially when Witek on the ice. Root and Rufolo both in the stands with slings on. Agostinko missed an empty net at the end of the game. Too much passing on powerplays. No goals scored on a 5 minute penalty, powerplay wasn't clicking. Way too much passing and shooting after lanes are closed.
4th line didn't play much. Weberg was on the 1st line and played well.

I didn't see him, but heard Ed Olczyk was in the stands to watch his son Eddie play.

Merry Christmas.

See you on the 28th.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

Malcolm played very, very well. A good night for the underclassmen, with Weberg, Fallen, Wilson and Cooper finding the net. Ags must be kicking himself....
I hope Bourbonnais is ok but I fear he might have a serious injury to his wrist.
We need the next couple of weeks to heal... Good luck to the team, who all face exams now.
Go Blue!

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey - 2012-2013

The fourth goal by Wilson was stellar, a top shelf wrister that flat out beat the UMass goalie. did not see the Bourbo injury, was that during the five minute major? Hope he is OK, we do not need any more.

Yale website box score shows a miller goal not cooper, the one off of his skates, which he was awarded off the pass and unintentional deflection by Cooper, no points for Cooper.

Thanks, LTsatch! Miller played a good game last night and deserved that one.

No, happened during the first period. Bourbo went off the ice hunched over and cradling his wrist, then was back out for the face off a couple of minutes later but got off the ice after taking the faceoff, clearly in pain. I don't believe we saw him again on the ice after that.
