I was referring specifically to Yale. Agree that it was aside from Cornell's win over Michigan, a bloodbath from the league perspective.

Yale was a bit of unknown before this weekend, but they are no longer under the radar.
Malcolm, Laganiere, and, at the end, Agostino certainly made and left their mark on the Denver faithful.

With all the recent success, I feel a "trap" game coming up against Brown. They have in the past few seasons played Yale with a desperation that resulted in upsets. For whatever reason they always come to play and Yale needs to jump on them early and often. Not having the "antagonizers" they have had in the past few years may play into Yale's favor, but I am always afraid of the Bruno.

So we are at the "Quarter Pole" of the 2012-13 season and some promising signs emerging. More consistent goaltending, better depth on defense and balance in scoring. The power play still a work in progress but still a threat. What I really like is the "buy-in" on the coaching systems on both sides of the ice -- resulting in far fewer unguarded opponents in our zone. This team has the potential to get much stronger as the season progresses but they MUST not fall victim to complacency against weaker opponents. Tonight's game vs Brown will be a barometer for the maturity of a young team. Go Bulldogs!

Hey Bulldogs fans! Those of us at WYBC have noticed some of the chatter on the board lately about where to go to find radio broadcasts of Yale games, and we wanted to respond with an update.
WYBC continues to provide radio coverage of Yale hockey, and we'll be broadcasting every home game, select road games, and any potential postseason games this season. We apologize that there was no Yale broadcast of the two games in Colorado, but the distance was just too great for us (a completely student-run organization). But after the holidays, we hope to make many of the East Coast road trips this season.
Anyway, all of the broadcasts can be found at wybc.com. Just click the "Listen" button at the top of the page and you'll be tuned in. Unfortunately, we're online only, but you can access the stream on computers, tablets, and other mobile devices.
Tonight's coverage of the game versus Brown will begin around 6:30 p.m. EST on wybc.com, with the puck dropping at 7. The pregame show will include an interview with Yale head coach Keith Allain and analysis from our student broadcasters this evening, Konrad Coutinho '13 and Nell Meosky '14.

I was on a plane coming back from TX during last night's game, but managed to listen to some of the commentary on wybc.com (thank goodness for Gogo inflight wifi...) For those of you who were at the game: how did we look compared to, say, the St. Lawrence game? Clearly, the power play unit had quite a night. How did the 2d and 3rd lines play?

It was a weird game, Yale was dominating play from the outset, then Brown scored two quick goals one a very light seeing eye wrister from the point, the other a defensive breakdown by Yale. Allain made a good move by pulling Maricic who IMO should be the fulltime backup goalie. Although continuing to outshoot Brown, they really did not seem to be in sync at full strength. If not for the power plays this could have been a losing evening. Obuchowski had a horrible game at defense, and has alot of trouble bringing the puck up ice on the rush. As for the other lines, Wilson, O'Gara, Balch, and Weberg played well especially forechecking. Miller, Lags and Agostino were outstanding as usual, the last three goals were really a sight to see.

Overall, I agree with your assessment of the game, but I would add a couple of items.
Witek is a liability on D. He let his man go around him a couple of times and neither touched him or the puck. He also looked lost when near his own goal both with the puck and without. I'm assuming freshman jitters, but he didn't look skating either.
4th line wasn't much of a factor.
Lags is awesome to watch.
Young had a nice deke and set up for Lags first goal.
Miller, yes a terrific passer and offensive weapon, but I noticed in a last home stand he would "lose" himself on the ice and make a poor defensive decisions from time to time. Case in point, 3 on 3 Brown Rush (2nd period ?) entering Yale's zone, Miller is in the middle, he decides to attempt a poke check. He missed the puck, stick, and the skater. 10 seconds later Brown scored. This isn't the 1st time this year I noticed an opposing team scored off of one of his miscues. So far, his offensive contributions have been offsetting his defensive mistakes.

Anytime you see Miller skating backwards, the other team scores, just my theory. He is just to small to take the body, kind of like a quarterback trying to tackle in football. Brock Little was the same way. Although Miller will forecheck, Brock could not be bothered.

The equivalent of playing defense in the NBA. I swear I heard Miller say "Ole" as the brown player went by him untouched.

Was at the Brown game and been at a couple of others so far and I agree with most of the assessments here. Witek has looked lost at times, but I think the coaches are high on him and Obuchowski and want them to develop as 5th and 6th defenseman - for some reason they are down on Killian it seems. Root-Agostino-Miller line has been as advertised for the most part, they are fun to watch. I believe the CC coach after the game called them the best line in college hockey (high praise from a WCHA coach). Lags seems like he can just take over a game whenever he wants - would love to see him be more consistent.
On defense, the pairing of Young and O'gara just dominate other teams top lines, it is amazing to see. These two are turning into one of the top shutdown pairs I have seen in quite some time.
Dueck has been solid and consistent just like he has since sophomore year and Fallen has fantastic offensive abilities and has improved his defense this year as well - another stud in the making IMO.
Witek and Obuchowski have been inconsistent, yet for freshman, have been very good. They do not provide the offense of a Fallen or Peel but they seem to battle in the d-zone and do not make too many "terrible" mistakes. I think the Defense as a whole is a lot better this year defensively which is why the team has success. Yale will always score goals, but when they can stop them too - they can be dangerous.
Speaking of stopping goals, Malcolm has been phenomenal and I think Allain may have been resting him this weekend? because it seems almost obvious that he should be the #1 full-time going forward.
I look forward to seeing what this team can accomplish!
