Yale Bulldogs 2016 Off-Season thread

Re: Yale Bulldogs 2016 Off-Season thread

I saw on the Schedules thread that you're going to the Shillelagh tournament. If you feel like taking this trip, Compton's a nice arena and the staff is INCREDIBLY nice. Word of warning: The seats are quite narrow, so if you're of the larger persuasion, grab standing room tickets. It's a really nice view if you're on the balcony; FlagDUDETTE and I had standing room in 115 (behind the goal opposite the students section), and it felt like you were on top of the ice even at that angle. Best place to watch the game IMO, but there aren't really any bad sight lines at that newer arena.

After watching him play this season, I'm kinda jealous that you guys recruited Billy Sweezey. What a fun player to watch: plays D solidly, has a good sense about him for where the puck will be, and plays with an edge that would have fit the grittier Western schools style better. He's going to be an instant fan favorite.

There is a lot of grit in ECAC Hockey and Sweezey is an eastern kid. Not a surprise he'd play in the East.

He plays with an edge, but his penalty minutes worry me. Although Yale could use some toughness.

Re: Yale Bulldogs 2016 Off-Season thread

Congrats to Alex Lyon for first team East All-American and to Rob O'Gara for second team. Ironically second team East All-American Thatcher Demko beat out Lyon for the Richter award.

Re: Yale Bulldogs 2016 Off-Season thread

Alex Lyon listed as a healthy scratch for the Philadelphia Flyers tonight. This burns a year off his two year entry Level contract. Strange move by the Flyers who have some goalie injury issues.

Rumored to be by 1 or 2 votes ....

Happy Birthday to Jeff Malcolm, hero on this day three years ago. Jeff is also recovering from an injury incurred in the AHL last week, all the best to him.

Re: Yale Bulldogs 2016 Off-Season thread

O'Gara should be in Bridgeport on Sunday against the sound tigers. Both teams have qualified for the playoffs and may meet again.
