Dear Togo,

To summarize:

-We decided to hold the ACN in a country that never cleared up that pesky civil war.
-Because of that, your team bus got shot at, killing three and wounding some players.
-Even so, you should have stayed and played.
-Therefore, you cannot participate in the next two ACNs and you can pay us for the privilege.

Yours in stupid decisions,

CAF

p.s.: I think CONCACAF should invite them to the next two Gold Cups. They'd certainly bring more to the table than Barbados. Or, you know, Canada.

I think its dumb and I would appreciate if CONCACAF extended its hand... but that being said, the way FIFA acts (and I know this wasn't a FIFA decision) that when the political leadership stepped in front of a soccer issue then seeing this result isn't really surprising as much as it is disappointing.

Thats a horsepucky call.

Umm, Arsenal? There's a game going on, you may want to show up for it. It's at your home park. Shouldn't be too hard to find, you've been there before.

Re: World Soccer XI: To South Africa, and Beyond!

Thanks for playing Arsenal. Your prize for your lack of effort is a trip to the qualifying stage of the Champions League. United just blew the doors off the Gunners. Park looks to be back at 100%. Good on United.

AMC, that letter was hillarious and so true.

Sweet Fancy Moses! Loved seeing Crystal Palace and Notts County winning. Palace just went into administration and they needed the money. They will have a tough time against Aston Villa. Notts is also in some financial trouble and will get a big payday against Fulham.

Re: World Soccer XI: To South Africa, and Beyond!

The more potential problems in the England dressing room on June 11th, the better :D

Especially because Steve Sampson today came out and finally acknowledged what we have all known for 10+ years: he dropped John Harkes from the '98 WC team because Harkes was boning Wynalda's wife.

Intentional irony after Crystal Palace just sold a player named Moses?

If Cardiff could find a way to knock off Chelsea, it could be a really interesting last few rounds. (On the other hand, the Scum could just as easily steamroll through the rest of the tournament, I guess.)

Re: World Soccer XI: To South Africa, and Beyond!

Philly Union only going to play 2 games at Lincoln financial field and the first game in the new park will be June 27th. Back half of the schedule is therefore heavily weighted towards home games.

I've been looking for that sketch for years. Bravo.

Though it appears to be woefully ill-informed. Mike Myers is wearing an Arsenal scarf and Mark McKinney a Tottenham scarf, and there's no way McCracken is an Irish name.

Beasley's car was torched in Scotland....

Seriously? Who lights peoples cars on fire?

That would be my guess there as well.

Yeah, but how many people on SNL are going to know the difference. ;)

This is what I found too!

It's probably what they had around...
