FYP..

For those with Setanta, Bristol City vs Cardiff is on at 7:15am eastern live and then at 10:00a eastern also live is Sunderland vs Barrow. And and noon eastern, Reading vs Liverpool is live. Then, on Sunday, West Ham vs Arsenal is on live at 11:15am eastern.

Re: World Soccer XI: To South Africa, and Beyond!

Oh man the weather is bad in England today! Cardiff and Bristol City already postponed.... but Boro vs Man City is going and the Riverside is nearly empty... perhaps 10% full. This is very odd to see a stadium so empty.

40 and sunny in London. Doesn't sound so bad to me.

Well.. it was snowing in Middlesbrough and it is flurries now. Obviously it has had an effect on the attendance.

Several games postponed so far...

1304: We do have an early faller, kids. In the south-west of the great city of Bristol, the freezing temperatures have rendered Ashton Gate unplayable, so City and Cardiff - who were supposed to kick off at 1230 GMT - will have to try again another time.

1307: From the three o'clock kick-offs, we have another brace of casualties. Accrington v Gillingham has gone with the Crown Ground snowed under, so those boys will have to find another date, as will Brentford and Doncaster, what with Griffin Park being unplayable and all.

Those are it so far... but good that in the south there are no weather problems per your report.

Re: World Soccer XI: To South Africa, and Beyond!

Bad weather in Stoke City have delayed their tie vs York, but it has just kicked off now and the game is underway... only 35 minutes late. Not bad.

Re: World Soccer XI: To South Africa, and Beyond!

And the beauty of the FA Cup is afoot...... (from the BBC):

"Oh Portsmouth. David Bell has drilled in the opening goal down at Fratton Park for lowly Championship Coventry and the beleaguered Premier League boys are 1-0 behind."

Re: World Soccer XI: To South Africa, and Beyond!

Man... first really wrong pick of the round for me.... Preston North End is KILLING Colchester United.... it is 6-0 now at Deepdale and we are only 65 minutes into the match!

Re: World Soccer XI: To South Africa, and Beyond!

Andy Johnson, in his first start in a couple of months, earned a penalty for Fulham, having been tripped by the Swindon keeper, but then took the penalty weakly and had it saved. Fulham still up 1-0 on a Bobby Zamora goal from way back in the 16th minute or so.

Re: World Soccer XI: To South Africa, and Beyond!

1-0. Not pretty, but good enough to stay in the hat.

the MK Dons-Burnley game on FSC is not live. That game is over, so don't go to the scores pages of any site if ya want to watch this one.

Re: World Soccer XI: To South Africa, and Beyond!

Reading v Liverpool about to kick off.... that game is live on Setanta....

"Reading opt for a 4-4-2 formation for their FA Cup tie with Liverpool, with caretaker-manager Brian McDermott opting to select Simon Church alongside Gregorz Rasiak, who replaces Shane Long, up front. Defender Alex Pearce is dropped for Matt Mills, while Jem Karacan comes in for the injured Marek Matejovsky. Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez makes four changes from the team that defeated Aston Villa, with Alberto Aquilani, Yossi Benayoun, Daniel Agger and Glen Johnson making way for Fabio Aurelio, David Ngog, Stephen Darby and Martin Skrtel." (from BBC.com)

A little interesting that Rafa has clearly fielded the best side he could put out there today. Feeling the pressure a bit? He clearly wants to get deep into this tournament. We shall see if this tactic pays off for him today vs Reading.....

Blackburn played fairly well in the 2nd half, but by then it was too late. Losing 3-1 to Villa.

Although this will be fresh in their mind when they play again in 3 days. So I'd expect a better outcome.

The guide said that game was live.

Re: World Soccer XI: To South Africa, and Beyond!

So when can Donovan make his debut with Everton?

Theoretically, today. He's been granted a work permit, the transfer window is open, and he traveled to England yesterday.

Practically, I'm sure it's going to wait at least a couple of days for him to get a little integrated into the side in training.
