Without having watched the match or listened to any commentary, I blame Rafa Marquez.
In MLS news that no one here probably cares about, DC United earned a 1-1 tie at Toluca in the CONCACAF Champions League, which brings MLS's record on Mexican soil to 0-17-2.
As an FYI for a tough road trip - Toluca is at 8,800 feet above sea level.
Jesus, you don't even see elevation like that east of the Rockies. That qualified DC for the quarterfinals I believe?
Hell, you don't see elevation like that even in the Rockies (at least not where you'd be playing big-time soccer games - not exactly a lot of large population centers up at 9,000 feet).

Yeah, I guess when you don't have to escape malaria invested lowlands, nobody is really in a hurry to live a mile and half up in the air.

Looking at it now, the highest 'major' population centers in the US are Santa Fe, NM, at 7,000 feet and Laramie, WY (7,163).
I can't imagine playing for DCU at sea level and then having to play at nearly 9,000 feet.
Also pure class from the blue half of Glasgow:

I guess its no suprise from a fan base that openly supports the BNP.
Ugh. If Fulham were going to play a match in the States, couldn't it be somewhere that doesn't, you know, suck? The Red Sox are exploring the idea of having Fulham play a regular season EPL game at Fenway...

If you're a Celtic supporter (and I forget if you are) pointing out racism, bigotry or sectarianism, that's quaint.
Celtic are the "good" bigots. Rangers are the "bad" bigots. Supporting the IRA is much more moral than supporting the BNP. I understand how it works. It's the same on both the inside OR the outside of that glass house.
Where did I say Celtic's $%^& smelled like roses? Celtic has plenty of skeletons in its closet but this is just out and out racism that has no relation to political sectarianism or clash divisions and this is something you find in the BNP vote pretty frequently.
I'm not of Irish or Scottish ancestry so I have no real stake in this, but the IRA's militant wing was horrible and so is the "Up the 'ra" chant", but at least theres some historical weight behind it. What possible reason do you have to drop n-bombs and monkey chants on a black american?
