Does anyone know if the training camp will be open to the public? I wouldn't mind slipping into Mariucci to watch a bit...

Don't think I can make it to Kato on a Tuesday night when I work the next day. Too old for that stuff.

Here are your 3 cuts before they fly to Sweden today. Three more cuts will be made in Sweden to get to the 23-man roster. All 3 goalies are on the roster and will not be cut. Lucia said Compher probably would have made team if he hadn't got injured.

NHL Network will cover the WJC and provide live online stream for every USA game as well. Full Broadcast Schedule.

NHL Network-U.S. will broadcast 18 live contests from the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship, including every game from Team USA's group -- which features games against Canada, Czech Republic, Germany and Slovakia -- as well as the quarterfinals, semifinals, and bronze- and gold-medal games.

Odd that only 1 team gars relegated. Didn't it used to be that 2 teams were?

That's interesting.

Obviously the top tier countries (USA, Canada, Russia, Finland, Sweden) aren't exactly impacted by this. Even in the old system, it's rare that any of those countries would fear relegation, and they're even safer now. You could also likely put the Czechs and Slovaks in this category as well.

So the move naturally impacts more the other teams that tend to yo-yo between the top flight and the next level down (Latvia, Norway, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Belarus, etc.). With only one spot up for grabs each year, each team might feel a little safer in the top flight, but then they're more likely to get stuck in Division I. Not sure if they're better off now than they were before... but I guess that depends on which division they're in currently.

Yes, at very select tournaments throughout the year, we must come together and wish all U.S. players the very best, even if they hail from Michigan. ;) Seriously, I hope the USA juniors the best of luck, starting one week from today.
