Wordle

I still don't get it.

It's the word version of the old colored pegs game where you try to guess the password and the only clues you get along the way are that after each guess you will be told 1) whether something is part of the solution and in the right spot, 2) whether something is part of the solution but in the wrong spot, and by implication 3) things which aren't in the solution.

It's a word game on the internet. Not much to get.

I don't get how to play it. I looked at the link the dx shared at the start of this thread and I can't figure out how to play it. s it an app? How are people sharing those graphics? What do those green/yellow/black squares mean? I'm so old.

You have to guess a 5-letter word.

To start you pick a 5-letter word at random: say P-L-A-C-E

After you hit enter, you will see the letters you entered turn Grey, Yellow, or Green.

Grey = letter not used in the word you are trying to guess.
Yellow = letter is used in the word, but not in the place you typed it (Say the "P" is yellow in PLACE. That means the word has "P" in it, but it is NOT the 1st letter)
Green = letter is in it's correct location in the word (So a green "P" means the word starts with "P")

It's basically a logic puzzle with a side of vocabulary.

Edit: It's not an App. You can play directly through the link provided in the first few posts of the thread.

As a follow up, DX is just typing out his guesses for us, with a "_" as a gray letter guess, "o" a yellow letter guess, and "X" a green letter guess.but, he's not putting the actual letters guessed so we can't cheat.

I think reducing it to an algorithm defeats the purpose. Just have fun and don't worry about optimizing.

I'd like to form a meaningful sentence with my guesses. :-)
