The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways.
Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar.
We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.
Former Bulldog Ashleigh Brykaliuk has signed with the Whitecaps. Minnesota fans will be very familiar with her on-ice presence. She is not yet officially on the roster, so the Whitecaps still have a 3 person team as of this post. They are really building the suspense for who they will tackle the rest of the league with. Hopefully they will have enough ice time under their skates to be able to play as cohesive lines instead of winging it as if in an all star game.
Defender Elena Orlando has gone back on her retirement announcement in July and has signed with the Buffalo Beauts. After spending her rookie season as a Riveter, Orlando had been with the Whale for the past five seasons.
Defender Taylor Marchin will return to the Whale for a fourth season.
The Riveters announced they will practice twice weekly at the NHL-size rink at the new American Dream mega-mall in the Meadowlands on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Practices will be open to the public and there will be an event on October 5th with a Rosie the Riveter costume contest, meet and greets with the Rivs players and other entertainment and discounts provided by the mall. The Riveters have announced the signing of their international draft pick Romana Kosecka. They also had announced on Twitter the re-signing of Russian forward Tatiana Shatalova, but 12 days later she was released as she had decided to return to Russia.
The Six have signed forward Taylor Day, who from 2017-2019 averaged over 3 points per game playing for ECDC Memmingen in the Frauen-Bundesliga in Germany (183 points in 56 games). They also have signed defender Cristine Chao, who is a two-time Ontario University Athletics Defender of the Year. As a member of USports' University of Toronto, Chao scored 69 points in 119 games, was an all-star and a member of the 2020 McCaw Cup chanmpionship team.
More good news for Minnesota fans: a favorite for Gopher fans, Nicole Schammel has signed with the Whitecaps. Last season she played with the PWHPA. She joins Taylor Turnquist who played last with the Boston Pride. The official roster is still only 3 players, but it looks like the Whitecaps will be in a good position to contend this season.
Gophers alumna Meghan Lorence has re-signed for a third season with the Whitecaps.
The Rivs have announced a camp roster that includes three tryout players: Rose Alleva (Princeton '14) who spent the previous three seasons with the Whitecaps, Maeve Reilly (Holy Cross '19) and their fourth round pick Jordan Sanislo (Sacred Heart '21).
Tsubasa Sato, a forward for her local team in Japan and a reality TV star has arrived in the US for a PTO with the Connecticut Whale, who selected her in the international draft.
Despite only being on a PTO the Whale are leaning in on her celebrity and are offering a Sato jersey on their team store.
I remember when the league started, talking to 2 guy hockey fans at work about it, and saying I hoped to take my then toddler daughter to a game and get her some merch one day. Happy to say I’ve had that opportunity, watched a game in the days the Olympians were there and Buffalo played at Harbor Centre.
It was a (boo hoo) blowout but watching Szabados was a nice treat for me, I think she was the lone Canadian Olympian on the ice that day. Watching Blake Bolden, and Cameranesi was also memorable.
Season 7 (seven!) is fast approaching. Can’t describe it as anything but a rollercoaster following this crazy league, but I wish them a great season. Appreciate all you who post about the league here!
Haylea Schmid has re-signed with the Whitecaps. I am not sure why it is taking so long to assemble a full team, but they have the pieces to take the Cup. First series is Nov. 6 and 7 at Boston.
Leveille signed on as goalie with the Whitecaps. Roster now lists 6 defensemen, 15 forwards, and Leveille in goal.
Road opener was a 4 to 6 loss to Boston.
Whitecaps give up a shorthanded goal, which was the only goal scored in the game. Swept by Boston to start the season. I guess maybe signing people sooner to gel as a team would have been a good idea. But who knows how that works out?
