Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2026-27

Mia Venusio is Emma's sister. She is going to UConn. I thought Emma had a few rushes last season that gave a glimpse of what she could do. I think she could be a player that could make a jump in production this coming season.

According to her UW bio page, yes, Emma has a sister named Mia.

It is probably more accurate to say she is taking over Grace Bickett's spot. I'm curious did Grace leave because she wanted full time shifts or was she told she wouldn't have much opportunity next year?

It seems we would have been better off with Grace staying than adding Lauren Johnson.

Any talk of who non-conference opponents will be next year? Are they going to be doing any special games like Fill the Bowl etc? Curious how next year's season will look.

Johnson will fill the Bickett role… Bickett got assurance from BC that she will play top 4 minutes … good for her.
Non Conference 26-27 are at St.Lawrence, home to Union and home to Boston University

Did she go into the portal with this assurance from BC or did she go in the portal blind and BC offered her the best assurance? Sounds like the former and smells like a possible tampering situation.

So Johnson is insurance for Beaudette possibly not coming and/or if RG is not ready for prime time. She played in 15 games as a Fr and 19 as a So. 2 a and -6 rating.

Beaudette not coming
 
That will remain to be seen.
She unfortunately is experiencing very very troubling issues right now.
Please keep her in your prayers that she may find happiness in whatever she ultimately decides.
Mental health is a very serious thing.

Bickett is a defender like LJ, true.

The analogy to Zilly is more to do with:
Both are Wisconsin kids
Both grew up playing TW (some years on the same team)
Both played their first two college seasons elsewhere for meh programs, with meh production
Both transferred to the Badgers with no apparent path to ice time. My kid was TW teammates with both, and each time we got word of them transferring here, she and I were both like, huh? The fit is hard to see.

Here's hoping LJ also finishes with two national championships. :p
