Wisconsin Women's Hockey 2026-27

She will be at Wisconsin in starting in September. Where do you see her in the lineup?

Her shot is incredible. She plays more like Laila Edwards than KK. Lots of her goals come from the point.

With Harvey and Jungels graduating, UW loses their top D pair. Ava Murphy, Potter, Venusio are all experienced; Makenzie Jones' minutes were more limited, so she's less "proven". After that, with Bickett leaving, the "third pair" will be freshmen. Three freshmen defenders including redshirt Rachel Gorbatenko; four, if Mossey is indeed coming in the fall. There is certainly going to be ice time available, but she'll have competition for it.

I know players on the dolphins and she 100% is not going back.

She is the best graduating defender and was the best on team Canada this year even though she is a 2009. Doubtful she would graduate a year early to redshirt. gorbatenko might not find herself in the lineup again.

Both Rachel and Nicole Gorbatenko redshirted 2025-26; they were not 'in the lineup' at all. But Rachel will be (almost exactly) two years older than Mossey, and have a year of practicing with Murphy and Potter etal under her belt. And pretty much everyone who is recruited to UW (and Ohio State and Minnesota) played on a national U18 team, etc.

There is certainly going to be ice time available, and there is certainly going to be competition for it.

Agree…but gorbatenko made team USA in 2024 and did NOT make the team in 2025… she also had zero points. Mossey was the BEST defender on TC and also the best at the tournament. Mossey will be a top 4 defender this year.

Edit to add.. RG isn’t even on the national teams radar and MM will make the national team which is why she is graduating a year early… same reason as Milani.. hopes it will help them to make the 2030 Olympic team.
 
RG might be in trouble for ice time because the incoming D Beaudette and Cerrute aren't slouches either. I'd like to see Mossey not come this season.

Assuming that the NCAA adopts the "5 in 5" eligibility change, there will essentially be no more 'taking a redshirt year'. The only way for someone like Mossey to delay her five-year clock from starting is to not enroll in college at all. If she enrolls, whether she plays or is a 'healthy scratch' would make no difference; one her "five years" would get used up.
 
There are 6 D…. They will grab a stop gap 7th from the portal that will be comfortable with limited time. There is not much to choose from.
Mossey is NOT coming in the fall.
Beaudette is not coming… she suffered a major concussion and unfortunately is experiencing other problems associated with that.

Mossey will be 2027… not going back to ED. Might end up at shattuck
 
It will be really fun when we can get back to having fact-based conversations - like maybe in September. Enjoy highway construction season in the meantime.
