Re: Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. IV - It's all coming together

Interesting, I though in the past Caufield ranked ahead of Turcotte.

I gotta think it is his size that is holding him back...each level they say it will be a factor, and so far he has overcome it. 5'6", 155.

"Players to Watch for 2019 NHL Draft" list is out/updated

8 players with NCAA connections ranked as "A" which indicates 1st round picks.
Turcotte and Caufield from UW
2 from BU, 3 from BC, 1 uncommitted D (Cameron York)

All told, 5 UW players and all are offensive players
Turcotte - A
Caufield - A
Leyh - C
Lindmark - C
Stange - C

There’s a B rated goalie on that list that’s uncommitted. Cameron Rowe. Anyone know if we’ve expressed interest in him? He’s from the north side of Chicago.

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. IV - It's all coming together

Zach Urdahl from Eau Claire, visited last weekend.

"Forward Zach Urdahl, a junior at Eau Claire North, made a recruiting visit to the Badgers over the weekend. He had 17 goals and 41 points in 27 high school games last season and has six points in 12 games this season for Team Wisconsin in the Upper Midwest High School Elite League."

Any thoughts on the lad?

My thoughts are Urdahl from Eau Claire is oddly close to Dahl from Eau Claire, and that worked out pretty good. Have to have some 4 year players to go with the 1-2 year guys and that's where Urdahl seems to fall at the moment. He needs to put on some weight and work on his game this year and with the Lincoln Stars in the future. Maybe he blooms into a star. I think you're mostly just hoping to hit on a kid that has the mental chops to play the game at a high level, and if so, any skills/physical short-comings can often be overcome through hard work.

Jefferson was a a solid college player. He has tore up the ECHL the last few years, great for him.

He's committed to Omaha.

Just fyi, he actually de-committed from Omaha. Brad Schlossman mentioned Rowe re-opening his recruitment in a blog post on 9/20.

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting Vol. IV - It's all coming together

Granted Spencer Knight is really good in goal, but Cameron Rowe's numbers by comparison have been quite a lot worse. With the 17's - .882/3.64ga vs. Knight's .915/2.55ga. So far in just 4 games each (so probably pretty unfair) Knight is .955/1.33ga vs. Rowe's .855/3.64ga. That isn't to say Rowe isn't good, he wouldn't be at USNTDP if he was a bum.

I'd say all in all, we could definitely use more Cam's though. Cam Rowe could absolutely come along and be a Badger with Cam York.
