Wisconsin Recruiting: Filling the foundation with 5 stars

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting: Filling the foundation with 5 stars

Andy, what is the story with Verona's Zac Keryluk and ECM's Charley Graaskamp? Are there two Wisco HS kids being looked at by any D1 schools or MJ?

Graaskamp is getting some looks. Projectable frame and good skills. Once he fills out I think things are going to come together for him. Not sold on him as a D1 player for sure at this point, but he's on the right track.

Don't know much about Keryluk at all. Charlie Parker is the kid to watch from that Verona team in terms of the highest potential after high school IMO.

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting: Filling the foundation with 5 stars

If I was a junior team I would take a long look at Keryluk. He has some upside in his game. He was the only kid I looked up during the game.

He was a twitter sensation...must have had 10 shots on goal all by himself. Can't pass, but he sure likes to shoot.

The Mission boys (Dvorak & Tischke) won the Illinois U18 state title over the weekend. They now advance to the Central District tournament in Fondy in two weeks.

I may have to head up there and watch some more hockey, even though I told the wife I was done after last Saturday. What are the ticket prices like for this tourney?

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting: Filling the foundation with 5 stars

I honestly have no clue.

I found the website, I can't see anything about prices, I can't believe they are that much. 27 games over a 3 day period is pretty cool. 3/15 IL plays MO @ 3:00, 3/16 IL plays WI @ 1:00, 3/17 IL plays the Midwest @ 2:00. Is there anyone on team WI of interest?

We don't know who will represent Wisconsin yet. Jr. Admirals, Capitols, and Team Wisconsin play this weekend in Fondy for the right to move on to Central Districts, also in Fondy.

Chuck, Do you have any connections that would know about highschool kids in South Dakota?

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting: Filling the foundation with 5 stars

My wife has a second cousin that is pretty good. Don't know what the standards would be in South Dakota. Just wondering if anybody would have a scouting report on him. Here's an article. http://www.capjournal.com/sports/wa...cle_25345dcc-6e8e-11e2-90e7-0019bb2963f4.html

Yeah, I mean those types of situations are tough to gauge...there are Wisconsin high school kids every year that put up 60, 70, 80 points but are never D1 prospects. Who knows, kid could be great. Sorry I can't be of much help, but that's not an area that I ever hear about.

Just watched the Wausau West-Verona game on FSN. I agree, Parker looks very good, especially for a junior.

Son of former Badger John Parker as well...

John coaches the Team Wisconsin Minor squad. Charlie finished their "pre" season tied with UW defensive recruit Matt Berkovitz for second in points on the team. They are currently ranked fifth in the country. Notre Dame's Tony Stillwell and Brett Gruber, who Chuck indicated have both visited UW are on the same team.

As is Michigan Tech recruit Tristan Rostagno

Assuming TW teams come out of state, any predictions how the U14/U16/U18s will fare at Central Districts?

The Minors are the most talented team by far for TW, but in every age group you mentioned they'll likely be the third best team in terms of national rank as Chicago Mission and St. Louis Blues are ranked ahead of them in all three.

I would guess the U14's and Majors will have to play pretty well just to advance to Central Districts.

Didn't TW beat Mission earlier this year at the U16 level? St. Louis didn't impress me much beyond their first line, although it's a heckuva first line.

They split in Blaine when they played at the NAHL Future Prospects Tourney (Team Wisconsin won that tournament), and the Mission beat TW, 3-2, in OT at the World Hockey Invite in Chicago. If those two match up in Fondy it will be must-see hockey. Both teams are loaded, especially if Wisconsin has a healthy Brett Gruber who missed most of the fall with various injuries.
