Wisconsin Recruiting: Filling the foundation with 5 stars

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting: Filling the foundation with 5 stars

Burnsville Jr. Forward Tyler Sheehy committed to Ohio State tonight. He was a player that Eaves went to go watch personally and also visited Wisconsin a few times. Badgers were his top choice originally from what I hear, but they never offered.

Lot of positive feedback on the kids game, and considering how wide open UW is with scholies available for 14-15 & 15-16 I'm pretty surprised they let this kid walk. Makes you wonder if they feel like they're serious players for kids like Gropp and MacMaster.

Also, Brock Boeser visited UW this past weekend. He's the cousin of former Badger Dan Boeser. Soph Forward for that same Burnsville team Sheehy plays on.

I'm a bit disappointed UW didn't offer Sheehy. What are your thoughts on Gropp and Macmaster? what's their style of play?

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting: Filling the foundation with 5 stars

Seamus Malone had a Playmaker last night in a 4-0 win over Indiana. He's put up 24 points in 36 games (6-18-24).

2 more assists for Malone on Saturday night. 5 assists, and +5 on the weekend. Not bad as a high school sophomore in the USHL. Makes you wonder if Eaves will ask him to accelerate to graduate a year early to come in for 2014.

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting: Filling the foundation with 5 stars

I have seen Malone 4 times this year and he is so fast up the boards and has some of the best hands I have seen out of a 16 year old in the USHL EVER. I could see him accelerating if he can put on some weight in the offseason.

I am sure his OHL team is getting a hold of him, hopefully he stays the US college course and doesn't jump over to MJ.

Can he accelerate to be in the lineup this friday night? The offense can use all the help it can get, even from a 16 year old kid at this point.

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting: Filling the foundation with 5 stars

Seamus Malone has been asked to join the USA roster this week at the U17 Five Nations tournament in Finland. Huge honor for a player outside of the National Team Development Program.

Keegan Ford was also asked to join the roster, and was planning on doing so until the past few days. Unfortunately, a rash of injuries to defensemen in Dubuque means that the Fighting Saints can't allow him to leave. Unfortunate for Keegan, but it shows how well these two players are playing to be invited to rep the USA from outside of the NTDP.

I wrote about it today.

Christian Dvorak leads the High Performance Hockey League (top AAA league) in scoring for his Chicago Mission club by 10 points. 16 goals, 30 assists, 46 points in 28 games.

Seamus Malone scored a goal today for the U.S. at the Five Nations tournament in Finland, but the American's dropped the contest 4-3 to Sweden.

Awesome. So can he accelerate and arrive next year?

Re: Wisconsin Recruiting: Filling the foundation with 5 stars

Grant Besse & Benilde are hosting Shattuck St. Mary's Prep tonight at 7.

Here is a LINK to the webcast.

I caught a few minutes of the game. Besse scored the first goal and I think got one later in the game as well as BSM beat SSM. In the second he ripped one off the crossbar...he has a super quick release when he shoots.

The announcer said he thought Besse was one of the ten best high school hockey players ever in Minnesota. I had to restrain myself from driving up there with a Badger jersey and taking him to Madison immediately.

Five point night for 2014 recruit Jedd Soleway. 2 goals, 3 assists, 5 points in an 8-4 win for Penticton. 15 G, 24 A, 39 Pts in 42 games this year.

Keegan Ford was kicked out of his USHL game tonight after he stuck up for a teammate who was brutally checked from behind (from what I'm told).

I keep wondering if there is a way they can add at least another forward for next season rather than 2014-2015...

Seems unlikely unless someone leaves early. Only scholly $ coming off the books is Lee (full), R. Little (half?), and Ramage (full). Between Davison, Besse, McGuire, and Grunwald, there isn't a lot of $ left over for this class.

Are you saying our scoring won't get any better next year?

אױ װײ!

It's good to keep the opposition off the scoreboard, but you gotta put some in yourself.
