Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXVI: Stop looking for the silver lining and ignoring the probl

?

Tough road to hoe tonight, down a couple of key guys on the road. Just have to step up. Go Red.

Over the last 4 MSU has forgot how to score and UW has forgot how to defend; MSU has been terrible over the last 8 on D, I'd make UW the favorite in the series despite Rocky and Hughes being out. Hopefully UW can get to the break without any more injuries and come out of the gate next year 100% healthy. And just about at .500

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXVI: Stop looking for the silver lining and ignoring the probl

Can't have over age Canucks, Mikey is part of the group of coaches crying about overagers in ncaa hockey

Please, show me any evidence from any source that shows Eaves as part of this proposal. There probably isn't any, but that's OK, you hate him so guilty by association is good enough.

good grief are you intentionally not reading these articles or what? Eaves IS 1 of 6 coaches from the B10 wanna be football conference and ALL 6 want to see the age restriction implemented.

I find the difference in the responses interesting. One person says "here is the information you had asked for" and another person doesn't give the specific link or information but goes off on a rant. Make of that what you will.

You accuse him of being blinded by hatred when you were in fact completely wrong in saying "Please, show me any evidence from any source that shows Eaves as part of this proposal."

And you wonder why you get a "rant?"

Mersch making his NHL debut tonight in Pittsburgh.

Thinking we are gonna do something we haven't done in a long time this weekend :D

You are correct here. (Hola, btw. Sunny and 80 in SWFL today. :p) On the other hand Kamigo has taken quite a few less deserved on the chin over the last year or so as it's not really been one big happy family, has it. I imagine these sorts of faux pas will perhaps eventually even themselves out if the Badgers could just win a few freaking games.

Mersch making his NHL debut tonight in Pittsburgh.

Badgers on the radio, but I'm watching that game on Center Ice (771-1), and will have the P.I.P. activated soon. Bob Miller, the King's TV announcer and former voice of the Badgers in the 70's, has given Mersch "lots of love." He and his analyst have mentioned Madison and the UW a few times. Thankfully, nothing like, ".....they have fallen on hard times..."

YES, reality haters, that's a shot at the program, especially since we were up 3-1 but now in a matter of minutes, it's tied and we were almost down by a goal.

It's interesting that the passion we have for the game and the UW program is mistaken for a rant. I'm not starting a clone-on-clone war, but please, those of you who think we're just old ****ers *****ing, we are not. It's passion and love for the greatest sport on earth.

UW Hockey: COEXIST.

Wisconsin Hockey: Leading the league in Moral Victories!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXVI: Stop looking for the silver lining and ignoring the probl

Can't tell which is worse, the announcers or Sexton on the last goal...

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXVI: Stop looking for the silver lining and ignoring the probl

Observations:

-Michigan State did not apply any pressure when UW brought puck over the blue line until it mattered in the third period.

-Wisconsin applied the trap not to allow Mich State to advance the puck past the center line until third period; when Eaves played not to lose....Again.

-These teams are not that good, so a close game does not mean that much. Interesting game to watch none the less.

-Repeat: Eaves plays not to lose in the third period.

I didn't see tonight's game; but I generally agree with this. Combine that with his reputation (A hardass, control freak), both things can make players tentative/afraid to make mistakes, just compounding this issue. Over the course of Eaves' coaching career, we now have a fairly decent sample size of poor overtime records and blown 3rd periods. It's happened too many times to be luck, and has not "regressed to the mean". The blame for our poor performances in these situations falls squarely on Eaves.

I don't think you can argue against this position anymore.

Spot on. If 10 wins are critical for BA to retain Eaves, this weekend is one of those. Just saying......It is what it is. We need a change. The damage is done.

The Badgers played the same 1-2-2 the whole game in which they are trying to turn the puck over in the neutral zone and create an odd man rush, or at worst, force the entry to the wall. They out chanced and out shot MI State in both the second and third (13-9 and 10-6). TSA was in the Badgers favor in both periods and the game. What exactly is "playing not to lose" in your mind? Wisconsin doesn't line up on their own Blue line the way MI State will and they sent 3 forecheckers into the offensive zone all night. They pushed the puck long on breakouts. The puck didn't go in their net, and it did go in ours.

Curious as to what strategy would you have them employ in this game that you would then consider playing to win?

I only got too watch a period and a half, but I thought he played well. His size and style fits with what the Kings are trying to do. I don't think this is just a cup of coffee in the NHL for Mersch. Congrats to him.
