Wisconsin Hockey XXXIV: A Season without Chuck

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXIV: A Season without Chuck

I'd rather have 15 ties than 15 losses.

I have to agree there that 0-15-15 is better than 0-30-0.

Badgers down 1-0 in the 2nd. Posick and Capobianco having a good deal of fun talking about the home cooking that the WCHA refs are giving Ferris State.

On the topic of silver linings, this Davison-Kunin-Besse-Soleway-Rockwood power play unit has been pretty decent.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXIV: A Season without Chuck

Sadly, Bucky falls again 1-2 to Ferris State. Good pressure put on at the end of the game, but they fell just short of tying the game late.

0-3-3 on the season.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXIV: A Season without Chuck

Thank goodness for Kunin keeping us mildly respectable, we need about five more of him from the sounds of it.

Arizona St. coming to town, if it isn't a sweep we might as well shut the program down and try again next year.

From the Baggot's latest column - http://www.uwbadgers.com/news/2015/10/25/MHOCKEY_1025154836.aspx -

The series with Ferris State marked the first college appearance of defenseman Patrick Sexton, a freshman from Ottawa, Ontario, whose debut was delayed by administrative issues. He showed some rough edges, but good instincts for the game.

I was actually curious about Sexton, seeing him out of the lineup, not being sure how good he is, was, or is supposed to be. Consequently, this jumped out to me.

Holy smokes, I just looked at the next three series' after Arizona State...

Personally I am hoping that ASU pulls off a sweep of the Badgers...followed by a Monday morning firing of coach excuse.

How about a pair of ties.

If this team doesn't win against ASU, they could be looking at a 15 game winless streak to start the season. Yikes!

Deja vu, all over again. It took them 9 games to get their first win last year. Uh-oh.

I don't feel comfortable about the ASU series either.

It will be interesting to see how the series in Grand Forks goes--for both teams. UND has played a soft schedule so far, and UW has faced some top teams in BU and BC.

When you're this far down the mountain, they all look like the top.

Hooray metaphors!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXIV: A Season without Chuck

UW has scored 12 goals in the first 6 games, last year they only scored 7, that's one heck of an improvement. :) I hope UW sweeps ASU, gets some confidence for running the gauntlet in the next 6 games to show some progress. If UW gets swept by ASU I would be in favor of pulling the MM plug, that would be unbearable. Blowing a 4-2 lead in the 3rd period was ridiculous in itself. I like the resiliency, but generally a team only has so many comeback lives in one season and UW has to be pretty much used them all up already.

This weekend shouldn't be scary, but it is, which is a crime.

Offensively, I think we may actually be improved this year, but there is a huge drop in goaltending this year that is going to make this season just as ugly as last year. I saw one of the wins last year live (which was pretty good luck) and Rumpel absolutely stole the game. Not going to happen this year.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXXIV: A Season without Chuck

Am I a bad fan for kind of hoping that ASU takes 3 points (as it were) and that someone (maybe even Barry, if he could be bothered) finally takes notice?
