Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

Don't get your hopes up.

It just happened. #17 is gone. Where do we go from here?
We have lost 3/4's of our goal scoring since the Nodak game. Confirmation that the kids are leaving while getting is good. Eaves has to go. Underachievement has to end. Great to NHLteacher:mad:. College wins losses in big games. Not so much. Long term results do not lie.

Sorry to hear that. Dzingel, MI lost a lot, Red returns. The B1G will struggle next year.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

If this is true it isn't surprising and shouldn't be to the staff either. To be a great coach you need to be able to anticipate and persevere through the times when your anticipation isn't enough (see: Suter, Ryan etc). I'm on record saying Eaves has been less than impressive since 2006. Kerdiles leaving doesn't change that and makes his job even harder.

Lucia has lost a ton of players over the years and so has Hakstol, how they respond is all that matters. Both are back in the frozen four (though I neved doubted they were great coaches and recruiters), Wisconsin the past several years hasn't been good enough. How Eaves responds and where this team lands next year is all that matters right now.

and good luck go Kerdiles, McCabe, Mersch et al

According to Orange County Register, Kerdiles gets two-way contract from Anaheim: $832,500 at NHL, $70,000 at AHL.

Well I guess I was wrong. Good luck to Nic, he will be a strong NHL player.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

When I said don't get your hopes up the other day it was all but a done deal at that point. I was surprised it took so long to be announced. Although McCabe agreed to terms with Buffalo a day before his deal was done. I guess it doesn't matter.

When these two were brought in as freshmen this was the projection for both of them. Neither one should come as a surprise to anyone.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

I guess it's better that he got it done quickly rather than leaving later in the summer.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

Huge congrats to Nic! Can't wait to follow him throughout his career!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

There are a lot of opportunities for new players and existing players to step up and make a name for themselves at UW next year. Could be a lot of fun too watch.

Congrats to both Jake and Nic on their new wealth and opportunity.

Exactly, the waiting until August to leave actually annoys me. If you are going to leave, just leave. Good luck to all of them. Jedd Soleway is just waiting for these guys to leave so he can score 30 goals next year.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

72.5% of goals gone, 70.7% of points gone. Has anything close to that happened to you before? I couldn't find anything like it for the Gophers. I might check out a few UND years.

2010-11 UND looks close

That's tough, but be thankful you got to watch him as much as you did. Be grateful, also, that your school is able to bring in guys like that.

At least a little bit of an over-reaction.

Most of us had to figure Kerdiles was a two-year guy.

What's more troubling is how much of an uphill battle it will be for a team to lose basically everyone. This is where losses like Clark and Woods hurt us.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

I think some fans might be surprised how much fun it can with a team that is young and/or stocked with lunchbucket players. It's real easy for the fans to get behind them, and successes are appreciated even more. UND has had a couple of teams like that in recent years, and they have been fun seasons, even though they did not bring home banners.

And you never know what chemistry will develop and which players will take big steps in development.

Sorry to hear that. Dzingel, MI lost a lot, Red returns. The B1G will struggle next year.

As of today, there are about 24 players with eligibility remaining out of the top 50 scorers in college hockey this year. The B1G does not have one player in those 24 with remaining eligibility. Talk about needing to develop talent, while all 6 of the teams are scheduled to return some good pretty good goaltending. Goalies are not a weakness for any of the teams, its the offenses.

MN has their deep cast of forwards
Michigan has Copp and Compher
OSU has Fritz, McCormick and Schilkey
MSU has Berry
UW has LaBate
PSU has its grinders

MN should cruise to first place in 2014-15 B1G regular season. Second place is wide open as the other five have flaws and question marks.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

Michigan has a potential first rounder coming in Dylan Larkin. First rounders are becoming few and far between in college hockey.

Last nights game stings as much as the 2010 title game against BC. UW sports are so close to moving up to the elite level....sooo many heart break loses along the way.
