Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

I watched the first half of the psu Friday game on the dvr (thanks to whoever gave the heads up on the b6 broadcast) and Kerdiles is just amazing. He is so quick in everything he does, his hands are awesome. Not that we didn't already know this, but it just reinforced the fact he's gone. If by some miracle he comes back and he plays with a crafty C, well, just hand him the Hobey right now.

From what I read about Sat's game, it reminded me of the last game on the year last year allowing breakaways and odd man rushes like there was no tomorrow. That crap can't happen anymore. The lads need to play smart and play the system. They are talented enough where they don't have to take a lot of chances along their offensive blueline.

I wouldn't say he is for sure gone. Is he ready? Probably. But, there is a better chance he stays than what you think.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

Thanks, Chuck! Amazing goal and a great HD feed; too bad the games couldn't have been on live TV. What the hell were the PSU players wearing? Hideous.

PS: If I cross the line PLEASE let me know; I want to keep the integrity of this site high. I'm going to jump on board with some past Madison Capitol parents to help with this. The organization has set up hotels, Capitol alumni games, dinner, and golf outing in August. If anybody knows of any alumni, or if any of you are past players, please visit

Thanks and again, if this is not appropriate, PLEASE LET ME KNOW! I'll understand!

Kerdiles tweeted something on Senior Night that I thought sure sounded like a "goodbye" to the Kohl Center. I don't remember the wording now, off the top of my head, but I remember reading it before the game started and thinking "well, I knew it was coming, but that's still sad."

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

If I had to go by the eye test, I'd say he's ready for the next level.

Too bad as it'd sure be fun to see him dominate for a season (next season).

I believe that he's gone but I'm hoping for a different outcome.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

That tweet was "Can never take playing in the Kohl Center for granted. Excited to play one last time this season in front of a sold out crowd!" so that was pretty ambiguous at best.
He loves the city and genuinely seems to enjoy putting on the jersey, but I have major doubts that he will be here next year.

I think it's going to be a larger task than people would expect to replace him, and Dahl who I think is insanely underrated.

Agreed - I never said it was a certified letter stating his intentions. I just thought it was interesting - made more so by the fact that he is very careful with his words. I'd be surprised if that tweet wasn't incredibly carefully worded.

He has been a force the past month. I think it comes down to what the Ducks say.

Yea I totally agree. I was looking for another tweet of his from a few months ago where he said something in regards to looking forward to next year here or something, but it had suh a strong feeling of just a guy saying what anyone else would say in that position.

I read that tweet as well and to me it signaled he is gone. Maybe it is just my negativity that gets in the way sometimes....

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

I think you guys are thinking way too hard about something a 20 year old kid tweeted.
You're right. I take rumours and reading tweets with a grain of salt. I still have egg on my face for posting that I was pretty sure Kessel was coming to UW. :o

Anyhoo, if these guys are in the right frame of mind, they could go on a pretty good run. If they wobble a little, Rumpel will be there. If any underclassmen are thinking about leaving, they're going to want to go out with a bang. I'd like to say I really like them to get to the Frozen Four®, but I'm out of that biz, at least in public.

Maybe so, just thought it was an odd tweet right before the game an all. I sure would love to see him play one more year at UW and groom some of the young guys coming in and ease the pain of losing quite a few forwards. His effort and skill on the ice is always fun to watch...

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

Regardless of this particular tweet, I think Kerdiles particularly is incredibly mindful of all his Ps and Qs. In some ways I'm a little surprised he's on Twitter. I'd be dismissive of some of the guys' tweets overall, but not his. It's one of the reasons I even mentioned it. Because of the stuff that started his college career, I get the impression that he's just very careful of and with every little thing.

From an outsider's perspective (if you don't mind me interjecting), I think you guys are reading too much into the Tweet. He says "one last time this season" in the tweet.

Not saying he will or will not come back, but I don't think that tweet means anything more than he's sad it will be his last home game of the season and last home game for many seniors (whom he's no doubt friends with).

You could just as easily read into this later tweet that he's coming back next year:

“@NicKerdiles: Gonna miss this guy next year. Can't believe that such a great class of seniors are leaving after this… http://Instagram.com/p/kyRULdCSpd/”
