Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

Am I missing something, craigslist has tickets for the 2pm Badger game on Fri. from $35 (good deal) up to $99 for club level (do these people realize the games aren't sold out).

They try to take advantage of the idiots. Club rail seats are about the best in the arena and you can get them at face. Or you can get upper level at face and sit anywhere you want since it'll be mostly empty...

So UW gets the little engine that could. Let's rolls boyz. Tomorrow is going to be an awesome day for hockey. Going to watch the gals live on the big screen via laptop and then watch the lads on the dvr.

LET'S GO RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

I was at both Big Ten games today. It was nice to see a bunch of Wisconsin fans at the early game, and then a noticeable increase at the second game. The Gophers will easily have the most, but we should have a pretty good showing.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

no matter how I run them I can't get the Badgers to a #1 seed

Someone on the Pairwise thread came up with a scenario where Bowling Green upsets Mankato and Badgers beat Minnesota in the Big10 final, the Badgers get a #1 seed. But if Ohio St. beats the goofs first tonight, then the advantage goes back to Ferris St. even if Wisconsin wins the Big10 tournament.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

I've seen a crapload of Wisconsin fans already. It makes the attendance woes rather unbelievable.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

Game is on the internet on btn2go for those of you "working".

Section 101.

It wasn't advertised or anything, not being an official event put together by the athletic department. One student who works in the ticket office wanted to get the students to sit in the same place, so we called a guy in the athletic office, and we got (slightly discounted) tickets in the same spot.

I'm not seeing you guys. Step up your game!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

Anyone played with Pairwise predictor much yet? I think to get a #1 seed we need to beat Minnesota (or OSU, if they can pull off an upset), and we also want to cheer against Ferris State. I haven't run all the permutations or anything, so I thought I'd see if anyone else had any insight into what else made a difference...

Wisconsin is apparently a No. 1 with a win and a Ferris State loss either tonight or tomorrow according to John Forsyth on Twitter.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

Ran some more stuff, I'll recheck and post details, but I think if OSU upsets Minnesota and we beat them, but Quinnipiac wins its tournament, then it makes a difference whether Ferris State loses tonight or tomorrow.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

Ok, if:
Your Picks
Atlantic Hockey
Semifinal #2: Robert Morris defeats Niagara
Championship game: Robert Morris defeats Canisius
Big Ten
Semifinal #1: Ohio State defeats Minnesota
Championship game: Wisconsin defeats Ohio State
ECAC
Semifinal #2: Quinnipiac defeats Colgate
Championship game: Quinnipiac defeats Union
Hockey East
Semifinal #2: Providence defeats New Hampshire
Championship game: Massachusetts-Lowell defeats Providence
NCHC
Semifinal #1: North Dakota defeats Miami
Consolation game: Western Michigan defeats Miami
Championship game: North Dakota defeats Denver
WCHA
Semifinal #1: Ferris State defeats Alaska-Anchorage
Championship game: Minnesota State defeats Ferris State

Then:
Your PairWise Rankings
Rank Team PWR W-L-T Win % Win % Rank RPI RPI Rank
1 Minnesota 58 25-6-6 .7568 2t .5925 1
2 Boston College 57 26-7-4 .7568 2t .5885* 2
3t Union 55 27-7-4 .7632 1 .5785* 3
3t Quinnipiac 55 26-8-6 .7250 4 .5659* 4
5 Wisconsin 54 24-10-2 .6944 6 .5658* 5

But, if Ferris State loses tonight, we're still good with beating OSU:
Your PairWise Rankings
Rank Team PWR W-L-T Win % Win % Rank RPI RPI Rank
1 Minnesota 58 25-6-6 .7568 2t .5924 1

3t Wisconsin 55 24-10-2 .6944 6 .5661* 4
5 Quinnipiac 54 26-8-6 .7250 4 .5660* 5

Your Picks
Atlantic Hockey

I have not yet tested the sensitivity of those results to other games; I generally assumed higher seed wins except for the OSU/MN and Ferris State stuff I wanted to test with the Quinnipiac wins.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

And, if OSU wins tonight and we beat them tomorrow; Ferris State loses tonight; and Quinnipiac wins its tournament, then at least some other games have relevance too.

So far I've determined that if the preceding things happen, it then at least the Atlantic Hockey tournament also affects if we're a 1 or 2 seed. A Canisius or Niagra championship I think flips us back to a 2 seed, but a Robert Morris championship combined with the above keeps us 4th overall.

This is more fun when it's a question of 4th or 5th overall (which may not actually be a huge difference, to have the last 1 seed or the first 2 seed) vs the stressful bubble oh-god-I-suddenly-love/hate-a-random-team scenarios, although those are intensely interesting in their own way.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

Where'd Wisko go?

Re: Wisconsin Hockey XXIX: Yes, this is the Rumpel Rink!

So Quinn lost and we play the Buckeyes.

Where we at?
