Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

Beyond the fact that it is difficult to watch a Badger-less post season, who would you LIKE to go all the way?

(I've always had a thing for NoDak, if I weren't a Badger.)

I would love to see Tech win it all. If that doesn't happen, anyone other than minnesota.

now that you brought up Minnesota, I did have one question. Has a team ever had less wins in a season than it has won National Championships? It seems like it could never happen.

So is that the trick? If we mention your school you can then stop by and comment? I won't have a problem never saying using that word again. Hopefully when I'm in St Paul on Wednesday no one asks me what state I'm in because I won't be able to answer them.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

I know this will sound a little crazy but IMO the worst thing that could happen for UW is to bring Eaves back and then see his team have a quality season next year. Because I believe it would just be a band aid and not a long term fix. If he gives the AD any hope by showing a turnaround, it will just keep him entrenched longer... and that would do more damage.

This is exactly what would happen. BA wants improvement, and a .500 record would be a huge improvement. It's also a likely outcome when looking at the 4 year cycle. I don't think BA and Jason King realize that improvement in the record will not fix the problem. It's the style of play and the negative perception of Eaves (which has some truth to it). If BA doesn't pull the plug this off season, it will never happen.

Hopefully they see the trend of declining attendance is not directly correlated to the record of the team. It's been falling ever since the debacle in Detroit. As the Zengerlee class improved to the high seed last year, attendance declined.

or, Eaves could win a couple more games a year.

I really do feel for you guys. clear the building out, and see if you can hire Hastings or someone.

And oddly this is the first time in my life I don't hate gopher fans, because I hate our coaching staff and athletic department far more right now (not the players, I like them). I guess I still hate you, I'm just concentrating my hatred elsewhere for now. I might even consider saving someone wearing a gopher jersey if they were drowning in a river...emphasis on might. I don't like this feeling. :D

Oohh. A drunk bus brewery tour... Do you have more info?
Buddy and I are coming this year as we have for past 10 years and we always make sure we go on a brewery tour on Friday.

Sure, it's called Boston Brew Tours, and the tour includes a few different breweries and a meal. Check out their website, we're doing the Friday evening tour but there's a daytime one as well. It would be kind of fun to have a good Badger contingent on the evening tour.

I think it would be fun to cheer for Tech at a Frozen Four.

You need to try harder. If it helps, I wouldn't save you. ;)

Now, that is the depths of despair. I just wish your team was like your women's team, at least when we whip them 18 games in a row, it helps out our PWR.

In no particular order: BU, MTU, Minnesota State, and Miami come to mind first. Really, anyone from the region with Minnesota State, RIT, Nebraska-Omaha, and Harvard would be fine. BC, BU, and Harvard in the Frozen Four would be nice because of Boston, and BU would have the added benefit of the Jack Eichel hype machine. I do find that Nebraska-Omaha winning things is oddly appealing to me.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

I'm pulling for Tech, the Ivies, the entire rest of the MW region and UMD.

But mostly Tech.

And yet here we are.

Stopped by to see about any Eaves news, saw this post.

MN, MTU, then I suppose BU or MSU (for friends). After that, I wouldn't care.

1) Anyone but Minnesota.

2) See #1.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

Not renewing my season tickets is going to be a touch choice. I finally have tickets in a location I don't want to lose, but if Eaves stays my interest will be worse than this year so what's the point? I will instead get Women's tix again and go watch Annie Pankowski and Sarah Nurse play. Eaves should take notes, those players have you on the edge of your seat in excitement, where is that in the Men's program? Even the 2014 team lacked that excitement, have to go back to 2010 IMHO.

I have a feeling the most of us who either plan to can our tix or are strongly considering it, would gladly renew next year to watch another 4 win team if someone else was at the helm knowing that the future could be bright once again. Our mindset would be completely different even if they were losing, and we'd be excited (but still possibly idiots). At this point, I don't see Eaves ever righting the ship in a manner worthy of UW's tradition, therefore there is absolutely no reason to retain his services.

You are right on. I have tickets that I don't want to give up either.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

I think after reaching this year's all-time low, it's just a matter of time before Wisconsin will be back. Hang in there boys.
