Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

As someone far removed (both time and distance) from buying season tickets, please tell me how much Men's and Womens' season tickets cost. (How many games?.....when I was there, you had either Friday night or Saturday night tickets, not both). What "donation" is required to keep your season tickets? Thanks for the info!

My 4 seats for Sat night cost $880 (9 real games and an exhibition game that is treated by the university as a real game) and I am required to donate $50 per seat to the Badger Fund for an additional $200 a year. Face value is $24 on the tickets, but my math for actual cost is a little different. Anything lower level between the faceoff dots requires the $50 per seat contribution. I think the corners are $25 per seat and not sure about the ends or what the 2nd level donations are.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

The seat contribution is $50 per seat in the middle section and $25 per seat in the two sections to either side. This is per seat for the season - not per game. Also, I believe it's for the 100s and 200s only.

Every other section has no additional fee.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

1.) There aren't post season and in-season threads. They just (normally) run to a thousand and then the next one starts.

B.) A "veteran" suggested the thread title. It says so in the first post of this thread.

and 3.) You've had like 20 posts in the last year. Who are you to complain? Should we have just waited around a month for you to drop in with one of your snappy ideas?

So because I don't post after every game, practice, team meal, bowel movement, rumour, fishwrap article, I get that from you? I might read USCHO everyday, but if I don't have anything relevant to post, I don't.

In case you didn't read posts the past 11-12 years, I used to analyze games, discuss them, and think what I would do as a coach (which I actually did do at multiple youth levels). I knew recruits; where and when they were going, and kept my mouth shut. I got to a point where I wasn't enjoying any games, so I quit cold turkey and it worked.

Win, lose, or draw, I love hockey and I don't like where the Badgers currently are. Apparently, some out there think it will get better soon.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

Our only hope is he falls on his own sword.

Not impossible, but pretty hard for me to imagine. Guy presumably just spent a good portion of this season exhorting the players not to quit... hard for anybody to follow that up with quitting themselves I'd think.

I'm curious to see if there will be any Badger fans in Boston in a few weeks. I will be there, like every year, and was wondering if there will be a red contingent there.

Yeah, we always go... Six of us this year. Boston accents make me feel stabby, so I'll be drinking a lot and only speaking to other Wisconsinites.

Not that that's very different than most years. I'm looking forward to the drunk bus multi-brewery tour thing we have booked though.

Men's $20 / ticket for ten games $200 (Friday night or Saturday night). Seat fees of mandatory badger fund in middle ice sections ($50 or $25/seat). Face value is $24 and they kill you on fees for buying one game here and there. Mark was talking about family four packs 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 sodas for $56. Third level tickets, but I know where he is coming from.

Women's currently $30 adult/ $15 student for all games season tickets. Going to $50/$25 next year. General admission seats.

Hey you'll have another year or two of excuses if he comes back!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

If this year isn't bad enough to get fired, I think we're in for many years of excuses.

Maybe, maybe not. The mood seems to be heading toward a mass exodus of season ticketholders. Lose a couple thousand more season ticketholders and the excuses may end abruptly....I hope.

Oohh. A drunk bus brewery tour... Do you have more info?
Buddy and I are coming this year as we have for past 10 years and we always make sure we go on a brewery tour on Friday.

Heres the thing, I hope that Alvarez realizes that this isn't something he gets a do-over on after next season. For many this is the fork-in-the road moment. One side is the stay the course with Eaves and we know what that looks like and we are not going any further. The other is a fresh era full of change with a new coach and the anticipation of the possibility of great things to come. With Eaves to many of us dread the next season rather than hope for it, a state witch can only have disastrous long term implications for the fan base. Which is why so many have latched onto this season for a opportunity to leave. This feeling has been slowly eroding the fan base for the last few years as others have found reasons to move on, but it's clear that this four win season coupled with retaining Eaves will turn that slow trickle into a full flood. I know that At best I'm going to take a wait-and-see approach with a new coaching staff if Eaves gets one more season to try and save things because I will have moved on to the hobbies and projects to fill my time and exhaust my disposable income.

But what do I know, I'm just an idiot.

I imagine there will be a good-sized red contingent there, with "Boston" written across their chests.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

259-206-58, Eaves' record over 12 seasons. This, beyond this season and the trend down in cycles, is unacceptable.

that winning percentage is atrocious for Wisconsin, just atrocious.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

Except they have to deal with Minnesota in their regional..

And Wisconsin had to deal with everyone in their season, but it's not stopping a few Badgers fans from showing up.

Look at Denver. Two years removed from Gwoz and they are the fifth overall seed. Granted, they may still have some Gwoz recruits but the players still need to be coached; you need a creative system the players will buy into. I'm sure Montgomery will be fine recruiting at DU....

Where is Wisconsin? In the dumpster now and years to come with Eaves (and Barry).

As for Barry, he reminds me of Mike Holmgren. Great coach, poor AD/GM.

This idiots $0.00000002.

I know this will sound a little crazy but IMO the worst thing that could happen for UW is to bring Eaves back and then see his team have a quality season next year. Because I believe it would just be a band aid and not a long term fix. If he gives the AD any hope by showing a turnaround, it will just keep him entrenched longer... and that would do more damage.

So I guess I am saying please keep him as coach. ;)

The team would have to have a miraculous turnaround next season for Eaves to be retained given the growing discontent turning to apathy in the fan base. My feeling is that the damage to the fan base from keeping Eaves one more season would take at least a decade to repair. I don't get any sense that the powers-that-be at UW fully recognize or understand that part of the situation.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXXII: No Where To Go But Up!

Not renewing my season tickets is going to be a touch choice. I finally have tickets in a location I don't want to lose, but if Eaves stays my interest will be worse than this year so what's the point? I will instead get Women's tix again and go watch Annie Pankowski and Sarah Nurse play. Eaves should take notes, those players have you on the edge of your seat in excitement, where is that in the Men's program? Even the 2014 team lacked that excitement, have to go back to 2010 IMHO.

I have a feeling the most of us who either plan to can our tix or are strongly considering it, would gladly renew next year to watch another 4 win team if someone else was at the helm knowing that the future could be bright once again. Our mindset would be completely different even if they were losing, and we'd be excited (but still possibly idiots). At this point, I don't see Eaves ever righting the ship in a manner worthy of UW's tradition, therefore there is absolutely no reason to retain his services.
