Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

No sink holes yet, but it's probably only a matter of time. On the bright side a sinkhole could swallow up a few snakes and gators, so it wouldn't be all bad.

My remaining comments were probably not worded well, as I meant going to games in general, not specifically tonight. By all means everyone should be safe.

If it's really icy I'd recommend speed skates and one of those go fast hoodie-suits. Be there in no time!

However, you can see Rafalski play tonight. Did not know he was the team chaplain.

Holy **** MCR! You are old!

Beside you, Eaves, and Mark Johnson is anyone else even still alive from that era? :p ;)

Oh, almost forgot... PB and Howie are still hanging in there.

EDIT: Well, you know what they say about memory... :p

I'm 58 but I'm always told I look 15 years younger. Good east side livin' I guess! :p

I wasn't alive when Gary Shuchuk played for the Badgers.

Use caution when walking on the pavement around the Kohl Center. It's VERY icy, but I did see a guy putting some salt down.

Thanks! I saw this earlier but forgot to post it. Pretty sure Brian can still play in the NHL if he really wants to. I'd be at the Everblades game but I wanted to watch the Badgers tonight instead. If he plays more than one or two games here I'll probably see him play. (Blades are down 1-0 after one so no Rafalski pts. yet anyway.)

If that's true, you look a little younger than I actually am, so it's all good. We lived upstate back then so it was PBS replays for me in '77.

Too bad you missed it 'cause that guy could really put the biscuit in the basket. 41 goals as a senior.

On the other hand, hopefully you're going to see some all time Badger greats play in your time, too.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

Call me a geek, but I'm recording the radio feed of the Badger game for tonight to hang onto. If I get really saucy, I'll try to sync it with the DVR recording of the game to listen to PB and Howie while watching the game later tonight.

A BTN reporter is riding the Zamboni!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

Actual attendance could take a hit tonight. Roads and sidewalks are miserable with the freezing rain. I'm watching it on TV, but I'd think twice if I had tickets.

Made it.

Ugly helmets? Try ugly whole uni. Take the worst yellow ever and combine it with the darkest Dickies blue.

Shot and a goal!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

Rumpel playing well. Already with a couple of big saves. Great play by Dahl on the entry on Mersch's goal.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

I think your prices are about right, and now with the Madison Capitials drawing more away, it will be even tougher to get the $24 / ticket. But we all know there is no way they will lower ticket prices, absolutely no way. They are way too greedy and there is not enough common sense up there to do that. Maybe when enough of us season ticket holders get fed up and don't renew they will be forced to lower prices.

I am so close to just calling it quits and buying a couple games here and there, and giving up my season tix that I have held for both nights for 15 years. The team is going to be much worse next year, we already know that. Smaller crowds and worse product next year and at that point is it really worth it to continue the season tickets.

Why do you pay for parking? There are a lot of options for the men's games that don't involve paying for parking (or paying a very small amount).

Bc we drive in from Milwaukee, we only buy a five-pack for Saturday nights (usually pretty much one game per month). It used to be that the only option was 300 level tickets. They were in the first couple of rows and at center ice, but within the realm of this package, ($75 give or take for the give games) we could only get 300 level tickets.
One improvement that has come from the lower attendance is that this year all of my tickets are in the 100 level. I didn't have to request them. I just placed my order and it came back with really nice seats for each game we chose.
So it was nice that they took off the embargo and allowed 5-pack holders to improve their seats. I know we're paying the slightly higher per ticket price, but it's so worth it for the great seats we've had.

What can anyone tell me about the Bucky bobble head dolls that were available from McDonald's in 2002? Did you buy them? Were there 3 different ones (football, basketball, hockey). How hard are they to find on the secondary market today? How big are they, and what are they made of?

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

Thought Wisconsin was outplayed early, got better as the game went along. Rumpel was solid for the most part all night. Jefferson Dahl stepped up and had a big game on the offensive end. Zengerle line didn't score but I thought they might have been the best group for the Badgers.

Interesting that Mersch says after the game the seniors had a meeting with the coaching staff to evaluate the first 16 games and where they want to go the rest of the season. Wonder who called that meeting.

I believe Mersch said the Seniors had a meeting alone, then with the coaches, then with the team, and then with everyone.

Stated attendance wasn't great, either, it looks like.

I'd like to believe that there would have been a large walk-up crowd had it not been for the iced-over pavement.

I couldn't have skated all the way down to the Kohl Center, but I would have been able to skate some of the distance. It was icy!

Yeah, apparently that guy had one bag and that was it.

Only troubling ice tonight was on my street and the glacier around the KC. Barry must've forgotten to pay the salt bill. Either that or they just don't wanna waste it on us peasants.

I see them from time to time on eBay, including now:

We have a couple and they're the usual size like what you'd get at a Brewers or Hawks game and are made of that same ceramic type material.

Totally agree with your assessment of the game. Dahl was great tonight, LaBate was hustling as was Schulze, Besse etc

It's great to hear the Seniors *might* be taking the reigns in calling a meeting (memories of Steve Rohlik, Johnny Byce et al)
