Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

I'm not refuting your other points, but the capacity of the Bradley Center is completely irrelevant to the Admirals' attendance.
I agree; I guess I wasn't making a point except it just looks horrible in that arena when there are 4000 there.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

We get sidetracked because we care.

I always badly want the Badgers to win, but I feel like I want them to win these games more so than usual.

Same here. I've always disliked Michigan. But the Badgers need to hold serve at home, get the points and keep up their RPI/PWR status. No excuses.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

The only problem I have with Gurt's ticket price scheme is that it appears to me on the back of my envelope that it's a money losing operation if it doesn't guarantee more than 13k in attendance. Even then ---Badgers are averaging around 9k paid x $24 = $216,000; 13k paid x $15 = $195,000. $21k difference x 20 games = $420,000. Those folks need to drink a lot of soda over the season...

I don't discount ticket prices as problematic, (especially if you are a season ticket holder) but you have to ask if dropping ticket prices would put another 4k people in the seats every night? The logic that proceeds this solution is that the reason attendance is down is that prices are too high -- and it's just way more complicated than that IMO.... It would really need to be very clear cut that pricing was the answer in order to take this kind of financial risk.

But I think all ideas are good ideas.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

I was not sure how the math would support price reductions, but maybe they need a 3 or 4 tiered plan. Jack up the 100's and the 200's blueline to blueline to offset the 300's getting reduced.

My expectations are low with the juggled lines and d pairings and the pp being not so good. UM has really good goaltending and a good pp. Rumpel needs to steal a game or 2 this weekend while Kerdiles is out. It's make or break for Labate and Zullinick in their new roles.

Let's go RED!

More tiered might be a good idea too. Of course the uproar from those with good seats being jacked up will probably be heard in Duluth. ;)

I think I would be pleasantly surprised with a sweep and disappointed with less than a split. Michigan is going to look to push the pace whenever they can, which should make for good games to watch.

I think the Z's really have to show up with two-way play tonight. Zengerle has shown he can most games, and I think Zulinick had his best two way games of the year last week. I'll be interested in watching Navin-Dahl-Mersch to see if they can provide some punch. We seldom see it, but Navin has a good shot and can actually bury the puck. And Mersch needs to do his best Blake Geoffrion impersonation this weekend and jam it home a few times.

I really hate losing to the B1G Blue Weasels.

Let's Go Red!

I've never disliked Michigan. But [insert all the things you said, plus something about how the sky will fall this upcoming offseason, here].

The last time I "liked" the Michigan hockey team, I was attending high school in Ann Arbor. Their success makes them an easy team to "hate". Now that they are conference foes, coming up with the "hate" is even easier.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

Ice storm making it iffy for us to make the game.

Lots of slide offs and accidents on the Beltline on the way home.

Needs to stop... NOW.

I just walked about 1 block to 7-Eleven, and it was pretty slippery.

One exit ramp on the far west side had 7 cars in the ditch.

Trucks are out, so we'll see. I'm now thankful for the 8 o'clock start.

If only they had built the train route to the far west side that was proposed 10-15 years ago...

Hopefully that means more time for road treatment rather than more time for re-freezing.

I'm thankful for the 8:00 start, because I can watch the start of BTN's hockey coverage and the MSU-OSU game!

Yep, watching it now while dinner is being prepared...

And we thought the KC was empty

Buck-I-Guy is there! I had never heard of him until this broadcast, but still!

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

Also, the Badgers could learn a thing or two from the OSU power play.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

I know what you guys mean about the weather and the late start. Hopefully the later game time will allow it to get below 80 degrees here so I can open up the lanai. :p

I will say one thing about complaints about going to Badger Hockey games. I'm very empathetic with everyone's opinions because I love the program and want it to do well, but it all takes on a bit of a different perspective when you don't have the option to go at all.

Well, I did come up last year for a series. Only about $1500.00 for Mrs. McBadgerton, the little McBadgerton, and I to go to a game!

Stay safe up there Badgers!

First off, go to hell. Any sinkholes near your lanai?

Just so we're clear about tonight, I'm not complaining about the weather, just stating that it may not be safe for me and my family to make the journey. Snow is one thing... ice is a whole nother story.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

Speaking of hating Michigan, how many of you can say that you were at the Badger-Michigan playoff games at Hartmeyer in March of 1977, hmmm? Saturday was St. Patrick's Day and this Jew was helping my Irish "brothers" celebrate. We were a couple rows behind the Michigan bench and letting them have it. The bleacher seats were almost on top of the benches and NO glass in front of the fans back then. I have always remembered giving Ben Kawa a bunch of ****; don't know why, but he was probably the only one who gave us the stink eye.

EDIT: I can't remember exactly why they played at Hartmeyer...I think it was a farm show or something.

No sink holes yet, but it's probably only a matter of time. On the bright side a sinkhole could swallow up a few snakes and gators, so it wouldn't be all bad.

My remaining comments were probably not worded well, as I meant going to games in general, not specifically tonight. By all means everyone should be safe.

If it's really icy I'd recommend speed skates and one of those go fast hoodie-suits. Be there in no time!

Holy **** MCR! You are old!

Beside you, Eaves, and Mark Johnson is anyone else even still alive from that era? :p ;)

Oh, almost forgot... PB and Howie are still hanging in there.

EDIT: Well, you know what they say about memory... :p

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

To see the Badgers and Wolverines at Hartmeyer...

I've played at Hartmeyer. My kid plays at Hartmeyer.

That would be a really cool memory...
