Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVIII: This could be a banner year, but how would we know?

I had forgotten about it, but in the 4th set the eldest son comes screaming out of his bedroom that they were on tv, so son #2 and I went in there and watched the balance of the set. It was pathetic how slanted towards Texas the broadcast was. Every timeout they showed the Texas coach, players and fans. Every between play shot was of something Texas. One would have thought Texas was playing no one. Good for the gals punching the horns out. Bring on the lady cats.

Let's Go RED!

It wasn't as bad if you watched from the beginning, when they sounded more excited for the Badgers' points (and runs of points) than Texas's.

As for Penn State - Their match at the Field House (their second meeting) was pretty close. The third set wasn't pretty, but the first two sets were won by a 2 poing margin, with the 2nd set going extra. The Badgers noticeably improved through the season. I certainly won't call the Badgers the favorite, but it's a much closer matchup than the season's aggregate 6-0 set score would indicate.

Good to know. This gives me hope for tomorrow night. Whitewater is currently in the DIII football title game on ESPNU if you are looking to kill some time on this non-Badger hockey night.

Whitewater crushes Mount Union. Nicely done.

Also, USA (featuring several former and 1 future Badger) beating Canada in Grand Forks.

Badger Hockey Twitter List

Edit: Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea for people from this board who are on twitter to post their handles as well. It would make a lot more sense for me at least. I'm obviously @AndyJohnsonB5Q.

Mine is WiscDC. I pretty much only use it to comment on sports things, and it's usually hockey. #PaintLaBahn

...hmm I don't have a personal twitter account, if you're into punk-y independent music I have one for my label (I don't post about sports on it though I do follow Chuck, Andy B and a few other sports writers w/that account) so fwiw @LatestFlameLFR

Texas....That's good to know the entire broadcast wasn't like that.

PSU.....bummer ending to a magical run. Kudos to the gals, the future is mega bright for the VB team. Now if they can get the WBB team up.

UWW.....great to see my alma mater win another title. Leopold is a genius with all the turnover of players and coaches he had this season.

Twitter.....what's that? I've still got a flip phone.

World University Games.....They really need a discalimer on the screen saying these are not ncaa D1 players, but club players. Average Joe who stumbles onto the hockey games on the cbs sports hd channel most certainly got the wrong impression. It hasn't bothered me in the past (I have Charter) when there was no cbs sports hd channel and they were only in the 300's channel range, but now with the hd channel, they are right in the 660 range where all the sports are, so average Joe can much more easily find it.

Curling.....really enjoyed the Olympic qual. that was on last week, curling rocks, thought I have to re-educate myself on the finer points.

Heh. I don't know if you meant to do that or not, but it's amusing.

@wisctjk is my handle. I don't tweet much except once and a while at UW hockey games.

Personally, I'm holding out until Twitter goes pay-per-view. Then I'll be tweeting like crazy.

Probably from a yacht.

I did see the irony as I typed it up. I didn't know if anyone other that EDOS would pick up on that, I recall he's big into sliding large stones on ice.

here's a replay for fun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lLX8zS8Xco

this is from the NCAA regionals at the Great Dane in 1994, Michigan won this game 4-3. The opening night UW defeated MSU 5-3, I was there for both games.

this was the last hurrah for Sauer's teams until Heater's 2 seasons. Man, seeing Jamie Spencer and Chris Tok out there sure brings back memories

EDIT: I took out the "Shot and A Goal" book and man, the banners. All the NCAA Title banners up, the WCHA banners, even big 10 banners up (albeit those were more for show)... then the "Great Brett-sky" (Brett Kurtz), "Canadian Club" "Culver Connection" (reference to Culver Academy) a banner for Brian Rafalski I can't quite make out the words and about 3-4 others...ah the old days:)

It's pretty cool to see unaltered footage from those days. Also, I'm glad you didn't cut out the audio in favor of "Bodies" by Drowning Pool. Then again, you're probably not a teenage boy trying to make a football highlight video.
