We also sang "Wisconsin's Pride," but next to nobody knows any actual school songs, which are good for any time, not just garbage time (just like when European fans sing their team songs). I pretty much abstained from singing Buttercup, because it was late in a very close game (even if it didn't feel like it until the tying goal was scored), not garbage time. But it happened, and that's why I started "let's go red" immediately after the puck was dropped following the goal.

I was a little shocked Rumpel gave up so many rebounds Friday night, but maybe it's his way of coping with the face-off issues. How was rebound control Saturday?
I'd like to see Zengerlee become more dominant. He was better last year when it was Kerdiles/Him/Barnes, but doing that this year doesn't seem to be an option. He and his linemates all have a - +/-, unless that's left over from the Boston Massacre yet.

In my opinion he's struggled with this most of the season so far. He's still been good and gives Wisconsin the best chance to win, but he can be much better. Needs to clean up rebounds and handling the puck overall.

I've had great debate with myself over his week's SHABBY after Bucky's sweep of Colorado College at the KC. After committing a terrible turnover, Sophomore sensation Nic Kerdilles loaded up the Badgers on his back, drawing penalties and stuffing home a big goal for Big Red on Friday night. On Saturday, it was Brad Navin with a career high 3 points, finally getting the Badgers on the board with a goal in the second that sparked Bucky's offensive onslaught. Anxiety over my dwindling supply of Spotted Cow added to the drama, but inspired by an earlier post, it was Canadian Club to the rescue and I finally arrived at a firm decision.
Congratulations goes out to Jefferson Dahl, winner of this week's SHABBY!
Late in the game on Friday with the Badgers clinging to the worst lead in hockey, the diminutive centerman out of Eau Claire, Wisconsin showed no fear in climbing the mountain that is 6'3" Peter Stoykewych. (perhaps with a boost-up from linemate Jedd Soleway? I have no idea how he managed it.) Applying a text book full nelson Dahl took Stoykewych to the ice, neutralizing the much bigger man after a skirmish broke out behind the net. A 5-3 penalty kill soon ensued and it was J. Dahl riding to the rescue again: With Rumpel sprawled on the ice and the puck squirting through the crease, sheer effort and heady play enabled Jeff to clear the puck just inches from the goal in what could be termed the save of the night.
On Saturday, after a lackluster start, it was the Senior again leading the way, assisting on Navin's icebreaker before igniting the Badger faithful with tying goal on a gorgeous play from the corner to the net. When asked a question about systems play a few weeks ago Coach Mike Eaves replied quick and easy: "Jeff Dahl. If you want to see how to play our system just watch Jeff Dahl." "He's so smart" added Brad Navin in Saturday's post game presser.
Jefferson Dahl, for all you do, this Shot and a Beer is for you.

This clip will be a big hit at my house. I've trained my 2-year old daughter so that whenever the Badgers score, she imitates the goal horn and says "Shot and a goal!". Also, "Go Packers!" results in "Go Cheese!".

Umm, it's ok to be wrong if you are wrong, but in this case I'm not wrong because I'm so right. The PSU goal was pure hand/eye/body control. He saw the puck, he reacted instantly to get his body in position for an intentional yet unorthodox shot on goal. The CC goal was a "let's flick the puck towards the slot and see what happens as I fly past the cage" move. It's a lucky goal, not a skillful goal.

And finally...the goal was in overtime. The stage alone makes this subjective argument over. Ask yourself which goal we could do without. The OT goal against CC made me wake up on Monday not filled in absolute rage for yet another OT loss by the Badgers.

Are you saying he did not control his hand/eye/body for the CC goal? And don't get me started on the purity police...
I think he was pretty "Johnny on the spot" for the CC goal as well. I will refer you to burd about what are acceptable and unacceptable positions.
I sure hope he was trying to score! Unorthodox can be subjective but I would call his CC goal at least unconventional.
I probably would have messed that up...and he has (to the best of my knowledge) more skill than I do. Plus we have a sample size of 1. For all we know, that goal would have gone in every single time given the exact same circumstances and players.

Note: I think Mark Heatley's years at Wisconsin might be a bit off. He wasn't here that long and as I recall he overlapped with Bruckler some.

That is so mind-blowingly dumb. I can't wrap my head around why any player with a brain would agree to start fighting after the puck is dropped. All that does is enforce a stereotype that drives away potential fans, because it's a joke. Of course, according to many in hockey media, I haven't played at a high enough level to hold an opinion worth anything. What a shame for a great game. At least I get to play pond hockey tomorrow (and hopefully later in the week).
