I always thought it was a automatic thing that occurred a short amount of time after hitting 1000. Not sure what's happening here, although the board has been acting weird for me lately. It shows an error of some sort after I submit every post:

Warning: Only variables should be passed by reference in ..../newreply.php on line 389

...or maybe they just turned the max post limit off.

I've been getting that too. I also couldn't log in a couple of nights ago either because of some bug or someone really wanted to keep me locked out by attempting to log in over and over.

Funny how after years of pulling for WCHA teams I have no loyalty. Last season I'd be pulling for the Cloudies in a non-conference game against Miami, But now I'm pulling for Miami to sweep on their way into Madison. Granted it will be better for us if Miami wins again tomorrow and then we can get away with something on the road next week, but still seems a bit strange.

I showed up for the third period tonight. Miami has a nice club. Mullin-Czarnik-Barber line will be tough to play against.

When they show live look-ins and out of town scores, I've been cheering for the Big Ten teams that aren't Minnesota.

Btw way, some maybe wondering why in my previous post I said "on their way into Madison" when we have a road game. See, I have it on good information that the Redhawk Jitney was planning on stopping by the KC on the way home to look at our banners for inspiration. Turns out Barry is one step ahead of them.

We're on a similar wavelength DC, (Although I can't stand the ugly helmets either. Go States!) I watched the UM/ND game last night and despite the fact that ND winning can't really help us at all, I love seeing the Goofs lose. We'll see what happens tonight but ND looked very good and the gofers looked like they did down the stretch last year. Really good players but for some reason it doesn't all come together. That and their PP looked very similar to ours from most of last year.

Funny thing, I was actually in Miami on Wednesday. Nice, 85 degrees, iguanas sunning themselves everywhere, but I'll be ****ed if I could find your rink anywhere???:confused:

Oh well, assuming we find the rink before next week, it's going to be a very big weekend for Bucky. Hope you guys take down the puppies again tonight.

I'll have to learn to hate their hockey team with the Big Ten hockey setup, but I find it hard to hate Michigan. I always saw them as the good guys growing up because of family connections. I was happy when they put the football teams in different divisions.

Don't worry, it won't take long. Listening to them drone on about how their program is the best in the land with their NINE National Championships... When they've won exactly two since 1964. ('96 & '98) That and their amazing, unbelievable CCHA dominance... gets old pretty fast.

Plenty of time for that though. Just about time to start hating on Miami!

Funny thing about Miami...I went to school with Jay Williams growing up. I didn't know him personally, but his ascent to D-I hockey is unheard of where I'm from (where even most hockey fans don't know about college hockey at all). I guess there was Jeff Halpern. Naturally, I hope he excells. I was actually quite happy with the 1-0 result when he was in goal against Wisconsin last year - he had a great game and the Badgers won.

Didn't Denver, Michigan and the Ivy League schools play rock, paper, scissors back then to decide who won the national championship?

I'm making a BB reference, sorry, but that would be like UW fans talking up that BB NC back in 1952 (?) as meaningful in relation to the current team/landscape of college BB.

If anything, based on the stream of talent Michigan has received w/ their connection to the US NTDP in Ann Arbor (connection being proximity), they are the most underacheiving program in the country since 1998.

The UW Basketball team won the national championship in 1941. In the "through the years" exhibits on the east side of the Kohl Center, they have the ball from that championship game. It looks a little different. :D

As for the talent in their backyard, even though they haven't won a national championship since 1998, they did make the NCAA tournament for 20 straight years, (including 1999-2012). Losing to UMD in 2011 was just one win (at the end of a long season) away from the national championship, even though it seems like it's a much bigger difference and is a much bigger difference in the trophy case. I don't think they've underachieved, even if I intentionally overstate the advantage of the NTDP being in their backyard (not to say that it's not a significant advantage at all).

If Red's teams are still playing like I recall them in the mid-90's early 00's it will be easy to hate them. Players such as Chris Fox and several others really seemed to be emblematic of what Red expects of his guys. It's hard-nosed hockey and from a rival school perspective sometimes their players seem to go over the line. Actually as I recall them over the years Michigan plays quite a bit like Nodak...I think the hatred will be in full effect by game 2 of the first series.

Hey wait a minute! Nodaks are known to be gents of the highest order. Rugged, sure, but refined and quite sensitive.

Two months 'til we play them and you're already getting me started... In addition to that 20 straight, we'll get to hear about how they own the all time series, how they have more All Americans, etc. Michigan is 63-58-8 against UW all time... of course 22 of our losses come pre-1935. In games that really count, UW is 36-20 in conference play and 5-2 in post season. Since Wisconsin has had an actual program we have had more All Americans and the ugly helmets and Badgers have each been to the Frozen four 12 times. We made the finals 9 times and won 6, Michigan made it 4 and won 2. Why is that? Just the luck of the draw?

No. It's because UW played in the WCHA with DU, MN, and ND. Between the 4 of us it's been practically a guarantee that two of these teams are a superpower every year. Try swapping UW and Michigan's conferences. How many times would the Badgers have either finished on top of that conference or won the conference tournament? Not that there haven't been some other good teams there from time to time, or that Michigan hasn't been very good... but think about how many more wins UW would have not having to play those other three 12 games a year for much of the time. And think how much more Michigan could have been hammered around like they were when in the in the WCHA. No twenty straight for them playing with the big boys every week.

Bah.... I could go on, but when it comes to recent Hockey BC is what the conversation is. After that it's certainly not those guys. Besides, their helmets are so **** ugly!!

Just looked at our schedule again and see that we have yet another week off after Miami.

Horrible schedule to start the year.
