I like those lines. Good starting point.

I do as well. I think you guys are going to really grow to love Soleway. He gives that line with Besse and Dahl a little bit of an edge. Dahl can dish the puck and Besse can score. First time in a long time the Badgers have three legitimate lines that can put the puck in the net. Funny that Wisconsin's second line might be better than their first line as well. Team should be able to put up a lot of goals this season.

That's pretty interesting. Rumpel being sent a message?

I don't know if I like the move or not. Both are good enough to start, but Rumps was awesome last year when he got the keys to the car. I just think UW needs to start strong this weekend and on paper Rumps is the better choice, but in practice, if Petersen is looking better, I can't argue it.

Besse on 3rd line.......Eaves is off the hook for now. Hopefully he gives that line a fews weeks to gel before he starts tinkering.

Both goalies were going to play this weekend anyways, doesn't matter to me which night they play.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVI: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Tolerate The BTHC

Just bought tickets for tonight's game, the new setup shows all the tickets for sale still, A LOT of empty seats unfortunately. Hopefully there will be a good walk-up crowd. On a good note, my neighbor just hung up an "It's a great day for hockey" sign on his house, which was beautiful so see while walking the dog.

I just paid for the stream at uwbadgers.com. However, I am currently in a tree stand chasing the elusive whitetail (no dead deer humping jokes please). I was wondering if I can start the stream from the beginning if I don't get home until 7:30 or so?

Video was extremely jerky for me. I ended up listening to the radio instead of watching. Anyone have video of Besse's goal? I did see Zengerle's pass to Barnes', but would like to see Besse's shot as well.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVI: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Tolerate The BTHC

First of all, they've clearly been working on that power play. If Barnes hadn't missed that crossing pass (I think from Kerdiles) on what would have been something like a fee-fie-tick-tack-toe goal, it would be an early candidate for goal of the year.

Soleway is big. Wildcats bounce off of him. Awesome to see Besse get his first goal, although I did notice a couple times when he was beaten along the side boards on plays I imagine he'd win in high school. Shorthanded goals are nice, too.

I really liked the new pregame presentation. The historic video is better now, considering it contains more moments from Badger hockey history, and includes broadcast audio! I like that they take the ice in a darker arena with spotlights. The only problem - "Enter Sandman" was missing!

I cannot wait for tomorrow night.

I wasn't sure if it was my internet or the feed, but mine sucked tonight as well.

Now that's the way to start a season. Didn't realize it was their first opening night win since '07-'08. Let's get that sweep before heading out east.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVI: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Tolerate The BTHC

To all the people not at the game last night. You may want to pick up tickets soon. When the pre-season rankings came out, I was not sure about #3. But they played like a frozen four team from start to finish.

...except the penalties. I'm hoping it's just a matter of not having much in the way of official practices before the season starts, as NMU was penalized a lot as well.

I agree with you, but people who are browsing this board probably know that, and are either going to games with regularity or aren't in the area. Tonight's crowd will be bigger - hopefully by a wider margin than normal for Fri-Sat.

Gotta say the Varsity Club at Camp Randall is pretty sweet. I could get used to this. Waitress, drinks, food...

And this is only Act 1 of Girth's Epic Badger Day!

I am jealous. :p

Gotta love the phone's auto correct. ;):D

Game was pretty dull as the Badgers appeared to sleepwalk through it and NMU played hard all night.

Besse and Soleway were pretty much invisible until Besse's goal. Wifey was calling Soleway "Slow Way."

He did look big out there though. Hope to see him throw that body around more.

Pretty meh game, but good to get a sweep.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVI: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Tolerate The BTHC

I was getting pretty scared as we got deeper into the third period with a 1-1 tie. Kerdiles seemed to have an extra ounce of energy over anyone else during that time. I know that's pretty ambiguous, but I wasn't the only one who noticed it. (Of course, being more talented can lead to that.) When they scored that 2nd goal, they really seemed to look a lot more like the dominant team that showed up for Friday's game. The power play was a little more "meh," but they're still moving the puck better/more productively than most of last year.

Besse has certainly shown up early!

Radio guys made it sound like everyone looked pretty gassed?

Kerdiles also kept NMU off the board when it was still 1-0 in 3rd, when he came flying from behind the play to break up a a centering pass from the left wing. If I remember correctly, it was a 3-1 Northern Michigan rush until Kerdiles came diving at the pass from out of nowhere, tipping it harmless into the corner.

When NMU tied it, I had deja vu from Green Bay last year.

Wisconsin's passing on the break out was far better that I saw at this point last season.

Speaking of media. No TV, and now I go to the UW site to find no video of Besse's goal. All I find is Eaves presser video. Guess I will have to go to all the games . If someone has video of Besse's goal. Please post. Thank you.

If we were in Minneapolis this would not happen. Might as well be in Kearny Nebraska. Oh wait. they probably
get the NEB-Omaha games. This sucks.
