Wisconsin Hockey Vol. XXVI: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Tolerate The BTHC

I don't know if this has been addressed yet, but is there any chance of the BC/BU games being on TV in Madison?

NESN televises BC/BU home games occasionally. Satelite sports packages have NESN available.

Completely forgot about NESN. Going to have to check into that.

EDIT: Just looked at NESN schedule, no dice. They don't have any games scheduled until January.

I would consider that to be like a game on FS-Wisconsin being "available" in Georgia (i.e. I don't get NESN).

The schedule up on NESN's site right now does not show college hockey on either Friday or Saturday, but I sent them a tweet and asked a BC fan if there would be any other network that might carry it.

I pay the $10 for the TW Sports package and get quick a few extra regional Fox Sports networks, so I can check in to those when we're a week out, as well. BC had nothing listed on their online schedule, but BC showed it will stream online using the CBS service - not sure if you have to pay, but you do have to log in.

I would love the BIG to add North Dakota as a hockey only school. Could it happen? Well the BIG is adding Johns Hopkins
as a Lacrosse-only school for 2015 so why not? http://catalog.e-digitaleditions.com/i/189804/13

I'm not guaranteeing it's impossible but in some other threads, there are plenty of reasons "why not." The Big Ten had much more to gain by bringing in Johns Hopkins. JHU is a renowned research institution. The Big Ten had five lacrosse schools, so bringin in JHU bumped their total to 6, and gives the league the Maryland-JHU rivalry, even if the rest of the league is lower-profile in college lacrosse. Big Ten hockey already has 6 schools, and academically, the Big Ten gains much less from bringing in North Dakota than it does JHU.

This last part is just what I've heard, so correct me if I'm wrong. I was under the impression that the Big Ten conference does not take affiliate members, and Johns Hopkins participates in the Big Ten for each of its D-I sports that the Big Ten sponsors, which is only men's lacrosse. UND is D-I across the board, so if what I heard was true, that's another problem.

No, JHU was accepted based as much upon academic reputation as athletic needs. Academically UND does not measure up and hockey does not need a team to make a conference.

From a decision maker standpoint, the whole name issue has to be a turn off, as would be the questions about when would other sports join the big ten conference.

It's true that UND is not in the same league as JH academically, and you like to think that is an important part of the equation. But even more important, why would UW support bringing in a school that will repeatedly beat them down in hockey?

Tentative lines per Baggot. Looks like they flip-flopped the wingers on the bottom two lines (Does this mean we don't have to hear about Eaves burying Besse any more :p):

I talked to captain Frankie Simonelli about leading the Badgers into the Big Ten this season: LINK
