I'm convinced! We should be #1!

This is a good team, but all comparisons to the 06 squad can be put on hold until we can put together back to back strong efforts on a consistent basis.

Not saying we can't or won't do it, but I haven't seen it yet this season. I still have hope, but the people saying we should be #1 or are as good as 06 need to check themselves. There's still a ways to go.

We're a lock to make the tournament, and it looks like if we don't fall completely off the map, we're going to have a pretty darn good shot at a number one seed. How many Badger teams in the past few seasons have had an opportunity like that? Besides the '06 team none.

Will the real 2009-2010 Badger Men's Hockey team please stand up? Quit teasing us with one great game, then let us down the next. (Can this be blamed on the split on the road mentality?) This can't all be on the goaltending since a team has to score at least one goal to win a game.

I wasn't able to hear the beginning where I was, but I figured UW could/would come back. Eaves tried back-to-back goaltending, but Goody had a bad start. Now he tried a rotation and for whatever reason (that I never understand) Bennett wasn't ready.

Just ranting on a football-less Sunday.

Regarding local sports talk radio, other than Brian Posick (and Mike Lucas back in the day) there is nobody able to talk about Badger hockey on the radio in Madison. Badger hockey is addressed on Lucas & Lapay when we are all working or in school, but the afternoon crew (3-6 PM) is hockey impaired and have a Favre-a-palooza show daily. They have Gary Shuchuk on very rarely, but then dispose of him within seconds.....and that's not an exaggeration.

One word to describe the game last night.....FLAT.

Plus, UMD showed why they're at the top of the WCHA standings.

Both of the highest scoring teams in the nation were shutout 4-0.

IMO, there is no excuse to dominate a team like they did Friday, and come out like they did on Saturday.....NO excuse. They played the same team BOTH nights.

I'm just saying, this is a team that is 8-2-3 in their previous 13 games. Was last night a bump in the road, maybe? At the same time, I was not expecting to go into Duluth and grab 4 points. Wisconsin is a great team with a crap load of talent and depth, but Duluth is not a team that we can expect to walk all over.

Come tournament time, yes, Wisconsin would have the upper hand over Duluth, but right now, it's cut throat. There are five teams fighting for the MacNaughton, and every point is an important one for everyone (not just Wisconsin). After "stealing" two points from them Friday night on their home ice, they decided to come out firing Saturday. We weren't as prepared, or as disciplined as them (as penalty minutes showed). Welcome to the WCHA.

After seeing the men's jersey for months, this is my first look at the women's sweater and after a bit of research, I am impressed. The women's team is taking an extremely retro approach with a very simple WISCONSIN across the front. These jerseys call back to the jerseys worn by the UW hockey team in 1924:

To me, I am surprised that the men didn't take advantage of this sweater design, since the UW archives also has great images of the UW mens team playing Michigan in a Feb. 1925 outdoor game... A missed opportunity, I think.

Women's jerseys are 1,000,000 times better than the men's. The men's jerseys are awful. But thats no surprise. I can't remember the last time we put together a good looking third jersey.

You have to admit that the CRC third jerseys are much better than our other 3rd jersey this year. The one with bucky's face on the front was horrendous.

I don't expect them to win every game, but please play a decent game. I watched the game until late in the 3rd period when Mitchell took a penalty and then I had seen enough. UW had 3 great consecutive shifts late in the 2nd period, but that was it. No stick to stick passes, they looked terrible. They were totally out of sink. Also do not forget, they stunk it up @ CC Saturday night before corageously getting back into the game so the last 2 Saturdays on the road have not been good. In the NCAA, every game is a road game.

Stephan was totally invisibe all weekend.

The PP was horrible. The 5 minute pp they had Friday was a demonstration on how not to play a pp.

Now we'll get to see how the circus of the outdoor game will affect their play.

Do you give Bennett this game because it's out of the league and it's a chance for him to get back into a groove before they back back into league play?

This is true, but they have not won more than 3 in a row. 06 had streaks of 5,7,6,4,5. The 06 team did have 2 loosing streaks, 4 games (w/o Elliott) and 2 games (Mankato) They just need to show more consistancy. As long as they can put together a 5 game win streak to finish the season that would be fine.

The 06 team did have 2 loosing streaks, 4 games (w/o Elliott) and 2 games (Mankato) They just need to show more consistancy. As long as they can put together a 5 game win streak to finish the season that would be fine.

I'll take a 4 game win streak to end the season....

Other than getting hung out to dry in a few poor performances, Gudmandson has played pretty darn good. No Brian Elliott, but who is? That is an unfair comparison to any future goalie until the Badgers have another Hobey Finalist at that position. Statisically, only Marc Chevrie is far and above Goody in WCHA stats. One of the goals on friday should be given to Brendan Smith, whose GAA would be higher than Goody's if they gave dmen the goals when they totally blow it. I'd be interested in have Con show back up and tell me that Bennett is the better goalie like he did at the Badgerland 2 months ago.

The DotA could certainly sure up their defense some nights. I don't think they've lived up to that billing, especially running the power play. They might be the highest offensive scoring blue line in the country, but they have a ton of room to improve.

A split isn't horrible at the DUMP (formerly known as the DECC), though it certainly would have been nice for the team to play better on saturday. They have had a tough stretch the last six games and went 3-2-1 against the top 5 in the WCHA, 4 on the road. Now the schedule gets much easier, I'll be more interested to see if the team looks past Mankato or Tech in the coming weekends and chokes one of those games away. No reason the Badgers shouldn't go 6-2 to 8-0 to end WCHA play.

I didn't mean to go down the roster of the two teams and compare each player. I meant that in terms of where the two teams were in terms of potential to win a National Championship.
