Just enough brain fart plays and missed free throws to blow what should have been a sure win.

Happ better be shooting about 500 throws a day this offseason. Inexcusable to be that bad.

Not that he is the only one, but Nigel is gone now.

Absolutely, Happ's FT shooting is embarrassing.
It would also be nice if he wasn't taking so many bad fouls.

It just so happens if you are not good enough to win, or almost win the Big Ten
Championships, you are also not good enough to get invited to the NCAA playoffs. You can't win a National Championship if you are sitting at home, watching the other Big Ten teams playing at the NCAA. Every one knows that Wisconsin hockey has completely sucked lately, but if you are not winning even a few regular season games, you are not going to win a National Championship, either. and, Wisconsin's being a complete loser lately has dragged down the SOS of the other Big Ten schools, so you have been hurting their chances at the NCAA's too. You might as well fold her up, and play BB.

Great job in the NCAA Tournament. Might as well fold her up and play BB. Oh yeah I got to cheer against them and see them lose to a lower seed too.

So now it should be PSU over the Pio's, except that everybody hates PSU...
And another conundrum on the other side. Lowell is the higher seed but has only one FF appearance. Domers are a 4 seed but have multiple FF's and 1 NC game appearance. Who's the real dog in that fight?

I don't hate the PSU hockey program.

Don't even dislike the football team.

The administration and meatball fans who don't get it can eat a dick though.

Notre Dame? I'd only root FOR them if they're playing BC, Minny or UM, so problem solved.

Was pondering this recently for forwards....

Ustaski-Frederic-S. Dhooghe
Weissbach-Hughes-Zimmer
Wagner-Malone-Johnson
J. Dhooghe-Baker-Ford

My guess is they want to keep Frederic, Hughes and Malone as centers, but Malone would be really good on the first line right wing if exchanged for S. Dhooghe, and Dhooghe can center the third line. I'd like to see Hughes' playmaking with Weissbach's ability to finish.

I like your line combos. I don't think G2O are going to move Ustaski from line 1, so you are good there. Putting Zimmer on the line you have him on is good, he has the talent to be a great finisher and this could awaken him. I think he was miscast on the 4th line last year. I really like Malone a lot, he is a sneaky distributor and skater, part of me would like to see him get moved up, but he has some really good players on that 3rd line with him, I'm hopefully he can really explode on the scoring side of things, his scoring fr to so, 26 - 29 doesn't reflect on his ability.

He wasn't even a good college player so he needs to learn that role if he wants to stay in the NHL.

I'm not sure I love him on the top line, but in one of the games at the end of the year Ustaski had all or nearly all of the shots the line had taken in the game and he scored. I do think the coaches were attempting to spread out the talent so that other lines had a chance to put up points every game.

Correct, I know. I was just saying they could use him (not that they might use him) the way they're playing, and the Parise injury. I guess college was too difficult for him since he had to go to the AHL to pot the ménage à trois. Anyway, way to represent, Master Luke.

I agree on this point. Ustaski's move up to that line seemed to coincide with the drop in production, though the whole team seemed to go into a funk and the 2nd and 3rd lines were not lacking in talent. Mark Johnson ended up making a superline when he moved Nurse up to the first line from the 2nd and than that new combo exploded, though they could seal the deal in the most important game either.

I guess teams play better D in college than the pros, or the guys he's playing with are just that much better.

I guess the Hockey Banquet was open to the public last night, pretty cool move. Too bad it wasn't highly advertised, I would have liked to entertain the thought of attending.

April fools a few days ago made me think of the time many years ago where on this site in the UW thread someone posted Eaves had taken the head coaching job with the Devils. Any other old timers recall that?

Granato got robbed for the coach of the year. Montgomery wins coaching a team to the F4 that was a preseason #3. Big whoopty ding. Granato did awesome things with an under-talented mentally defeated group of players.
