Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Episode XXXI: A New Hope

I have been mentioning Mike Hastings as an option for a new coach. He has the Mavericks rated #1 right now and has turned them around in 2.5 years. No one else mentions him. Comments?

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Episode XXXI: A New Hope

Maybe that's my fault then. I was on a time constraint and didn't get a chance to hear the press conference. I took what I needed for the recap and got out of dodge.

Here is a quote from his press conference more to your liking, I would assume.

"We made some silly mistakes in those situations. What it tells us is that we’re not quite there where we want to be. This is the first time all year where we had this opportunity where we played well on a Friday, thank goodness. Now we’ve got to come back and do it again, and we didn’t. Not for 60 minutes. We have to learn our lessons and get ready for next week."

I apologize for not doing my job better.

no apology necessary, you've done an outstanding job with the blog, particularly keeping us apprised of recruiting

And yes, that quote is what I like to hear from the coach, thanks!

As much as I'd love to talk about living in/around Madison and being a part of this great school, I'm not sure he'd want to move laterally between head coaching jobs from Minnesota State to Wisconsin.

I feel like you have suddenly lost your freaking mind.

No offense though. :)

If Minnesota State to Wisconsin is a lateral move they might as well nuke the University.

Got it. I'm still catching on to local customs but basically my understanding is that in Florida, but outside of Miami, no one is really allowed to acknowledge the existence of that place, so it threw me. I'd say more, but I'm probably being watched already.

Re: Wisconsin Hockey: Episode XXXI: A New Hope

Per the Badger Hockey newsletter (and presumably a press release months ago or something that Chuck covered on B5Q a while back, I don't remember):

1990 REUNION WEEKEND
It has been 25 years since the 1990 Wisconsin Badgers knocked off Colgate for UW’s fifth NCAA men’s ice hockey title. The team will be back in Madison on Saturday, Jan. 31 to celebrate and be recognized on the ice.

So, if anyone wants to be that guy and make overtures towards Mark Osiecki and Don Granato in public, best make sure you go to the saturday game against Minnesota.

What is this newsletter you speak of?

Osiecki's team has a game that night, and Granato's team has a tournament starting 2/4 overseas.
