This does suck and makes zero sense. Monty looked good when he got some space and was able to skate but he wasn't strong on the puck and got knocked around too easily. He needs to mature and add weight/strength and will get eaten alive at the next level until that happens.

Sounds like Poirier might have been a bad "culture fit" based on what's being discussed in the Maine thread. I think it's pretty clear that you need to be disciplined and play a 200' game or you're not getting ice time for Hastings.


Good news to me is that Idzan isn't in the portal yet and could make a big jump next season. Maybe he needs to work on discipline and being a more complete player on both ends of the ice but I'd assume that he's committed to the work if he decides to stay.
 
Montgomery would not have been on my bingo card as an early signing. He isnt ready and this will give him added AHL or ECHL time. I agree with the sentiment that maybe this is a school isnt right for him decision. Without going into details or naming names, I know for a fact that some of our early signings over the years have been directly school related.
