Wisconsin Hockey 24-25 Improving With All Due Haste.

It really does feel cursed. Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.

I don’t understand why Finley is even out there late defending a 1 goal lead… Defense isn’t exactly his best attribute.
It was 20 seconds after he blew the empty netter. It was still in his head and didn't play D. Unfortunately, playing tomorrow is on him. He hasn't scored a goal in forever, maybe he'll atone tomorrow.

He could have sealed the deal with the empty net goal but it looked like he wanted to make an explanation point with a slap shot that went over the net. He'll be seeing that one over & over all night in his mind!

I would not say that it's all on him. The whole team only scored two goals. Two goals is not going to win you many games. The back-to-back penalties in the third period denied Wisconsin 4 minutes of trying to score another goal.

I still am not sure how that winning goal went in.

The shot came in along the ice and suddenly deflected upwards when it reached the goaltender. Couldn't be certain but it looked like it happened off the goalies stick from watching the replays on Ohio State hockey teams FB page.

I am going to assume you are either blind or did not watch the play. That interpretation is not even close to what happened.

Dude, wtf. They are calling every penalty on Wisconsin. Pietela gets hauled down on a 2-on-1 and nothing called. Effin' home cooking. Now OSU gets a power play and takes the lead 2-1.

I'm usually a little sad to season the season end, but not this year. This is the most painful year I can remember since I've been following this team since 1980. The missed open net to win it perfectly summarizes this year. They could always find a way to lose.

Four penalties in the third period....
Yes. And that’s why people are saying their May be a coaching issue here. The penalties haven’t been addressed all season or the kids don’t listen. That’s on the coaches.

The way they played the final 10-14 games last year seemed to be how they played this entire season. That’s also on the coaches. If they need a Burish in the locker room then recruit one!

Hastings and crew have a LOT to reconcile this off-season. Forget if Finley leaves and takes 20 goals with him, IF these coaches can’t get the players to play smart and hard and the coaches continue to think they can take RIT, Northern Michigan and MTU guys and make a go of it in the b10 they are truly more lost than the players.

This was a bad season that I put entirely on the coaches. No improvement was made over 5 months from any position group.

15 years since an FF appearance, 19 going on 20 years since a national title. No kid they recruit knows Wisconsin as a National power because they have not been one since 1994. I honestly don’t know how they recruit “A” level talent to Madison. What’s the sell? Winning tradition? Uhm…when? 30 years ago? Sold-out games? Nope. Atmosphere at the KC? Nope.

It must just be hope.

Knott gets interviewed post game. Most interesting comment I heard was about last year. Though they had success there were some issues going on with the team. He said, "culture is a real thing", and that there were issues that surfaced last year. He said these were not present this year, and that the group was good.
