Wisconsin Hockey 22-23 Empty Dreams & Empty Seats

Pp sucked, no urgency or turn up the pressure in the 3rd down one. Stange did have some great chances but other than him a dull sleepy effort. To no one's surprise.

Yep. Stupid penalties & a turnover, and it’s game over.

Clarkson mucked up the neutral zone and stood up at the blue line so we just dumped it in all night and were outhustled to the puck.

And not having Lindy out there taking empty net, offensive zone face-offs is stupid as caufield was terrible all night on face-offs.

Wow…My Dad and I went all the Bank One Badger Hockey Showdowns back in the day (…you know just as Jane’s Addiction and Nirvana were entering the mainstream!).

I still recall the first 3-4 really well. Sold out, Wisconsin still at the peak of it’s powers with the 90, 91, 92, 93 teams. It was loud as hell. And the competition was amazing those years. BC, Maine and several other powers played in the tournament.

I’m glad I haven’t gone to this new iteration. As nice as it it would be to drive 5-6 miles to see Badger hockey AND drink beer, it would be too depressing to me.

I really hope the tournament continues. Tickets have made nice stocking stuffer gifts the last two years. With a more competitive Wisconsin squad, attendance would certainly be improved. It really was terrible luck that Wisconsin peaked under Granato during the Covid season. The originally planned holiday face off in 2020 would have done great numbers with the team Wisconsin had that year.

Watching the game last night, I would like to see Ceulemans ride the bench for a while. The entire team’s play was underwhelming so it might not have made a difference, but Ceulemans was bad. Both Clarkson goals were directly his fault. First one of the worst turnovers I’ve seen all year led to the first goal, and then a completely uncalled for slashing penalty when the puck was dead set up a Clarkson power play and their second goal.

I just saw that about Todd, really stinks for ya’ll. He’s a pros pro covering hockey.

UW, Air Force, UMD, NE in the Kwik Trip Holiday Classic next season. I like the bill. I've always liked Air Force (it's the one other college hockey jersey I'd like to own besides UW), UMD a traditional opponent and NE (Meh). I'd like to see UW play Air Force in round 1. Frank Serratori is a guy I would have liked to coach UW if he was younger. His interviews are epic. Not a lot of PC or coddling going on with that guy.

Just coming on here to post this. We had fun both years. I already added it to my calendar. Hopefully Duluth brings in some additional attendees. Frank has does have some epic interviews!

I too hope UMD brings a lot of fans down. They said attendance was about the same this year to last. Those could be the 2 most highly attended games of the year for UW.

The ND games are usually low scoring grind it outs, that may play into UW's low scoring hands.

No response from Todd about UW coverage with him doing BB, lame he's not responded and it's a bad sign. I guess we'll see if there's an article up on the web about the game or not tomorrow morning. Ironically, JSonline is producing a nice amount of UW hockey articles, which is a new thing.

Madison.com has ZERO preview for this series. Tons of FB articles. Todd wrote a BB article. If they pretend this series didn't even occur, Jason King is going to hear about it Sunday. It would be a total embarrassment that hockey has fallen so far off the map that the local newspaper doesn't even cover it anymore. That is tons of free advertising and media exposure to the general public. And it's will be aaaalllll hiiiiiisssss faaaauuuult - SIEVE!

You need to send something to the madison.com editors. They moved Todd to BB, not Jason King. I have the feeling with them dumping Abby from the BB beat, Todd is the new BB beat writer (temporarily or permanently?). To be fair, he has already raised the bar on BB coverage from previous. Will the coverage of hockey suffer? Absolutely. Does Madison.com care? I am guessing no.

And to be fair to Todd, he probably doesn't have a choice in the matter.

Certainly Jason could help the situation if we had a competitive team and better attendance / interest in the program.....

I will do that too, but I think a major factor is the lack of interest in the program due to them sucking for so long. If the place was packed for every home game I doubt Madison.com attempts to pull this stunt, IF it's indeed happening. There would be public outrage, not 1 lone voice in the wilderness complaining about the coverage.

And yeah Todd is innocent of any responsibility, but he and I have exchanged communication in the past, and him not responding as an employee of Madison.com is weak sauce. At least tell me to email person X for more info, just don't ignore the request.

No reporter live tweeting. And whoever does Wisconsin's team Twitter is terrible. The junior teams I follow tweet more information than they do. What a joke.

Decent pressure by UW, one horrible turnover Moe stopped.
 
Hey madison.com just posted a sports article...... about women's bb lol. No reporter to live intertact with on Twitter about the game action or the horrible referees. How sad. I've never felt like stopping caring as much as now.

2 D score a couple 2 zip UW.
